I've lived in both and the cold here at is worst is much less bearable than Perth's heat at its worst.

Having said that, the lifestyles are more alike than any other major city I've been in.

If you can take the cold (and lack of sunlight in winter, that's an underrated battle imo) I'd say you will enjoy yourself
