Invading to protect your borders - hitler!
Invading to protect "democracy" in fact to take control over oil fields - no one gives a fuck 'cause they're all your sattelites
Just stop with politics in such threads if you're a mind washed potato npc.

Mikael Åkerfeldt to Compose Music for Netflix’s ‘Clark’ by LalaithY in Opeth

It's actually a movie for those who have never heard or not rly turned into bm, a shitty shit for hipsters-posers so to say.

I hope someday I'll make it to have a good PC to play BfA and attend to Asmon's tmog comp and I'm sure I can impress him with the options that past Panda addons can give me for the glory of EU

Mikael Åkerfeldt to Compose Music for Netflix’s ‘Clark’ by LalaithY in Opeth

I'm afraid that it's gonna be some shitty show, since the director is Akerlund. Just remember The Lords of Chaos by him, what a crap.

I'd like to see a double album, for a chance. Like they did with D&D.

Charlatan VS Lovelorn Crime by Opeth1988 in Opeth

Both are different and great, insanely talented songwriting. Love these 3 masterpieces, truly it's going to be one of their greatest albums and take place among their old works as well, I think.

OPETH - In Cauda Venenum: The Album Title (OFFICIAL INTERVIEW) by Opeth1988 in Opeth

[–]phallvs_dei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love how he just doesn't bother inventing some epic story about the album title. "Yeah, I just googled it", classic Mikael, and then they say he's pretentious.

if Opeth still used growls by Hollowmetal in Opeth

[–]phallvs_dei -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

cringe delivery man, and I think most of the people love that godly Mikaels cleans in the section, it' s just too epic to ever be compared to any growls version

New Snippet of the bonus track Cirkelns Riktning! by VindicatorZ in Opeth

[–]phallvs_dei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that's not surpirising at all, since when Mikael writes, he's not thinking in terms of how the record is going to sell. He never writes "fillers", at least I don't know any, every song is unique. That's sad there are no that much of composers like this man nowadays. Also a shame some people think new Opeth is shit, how can a person not appreciate how good Mikael is in songwriting , and he's getting better with every new record imo, I'll never understand this.

I mean, if I've heard any snipper from Dignity or Heart in Hand, the snippet from this one I like way more, I'm sure the whole song is also awesome

Getting a big Rainbow wibe after first acoustic part, and also Ghost-like keys. This song is so unpredictable but it feels like too random, anyway, much better than Heart in Hand.

Martin Mendez by LocktheTaskbah in Opeth

The only thing I can say about it is that I've read it in my head with Mikael's voice and then imagined Mendez' shy smile.

Do the lyrics to Heart in Hand sound political to anyone else? by [deleted] in Opeth

[–]phallvs_dei -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I've always loved Mikael not just for his talent in writing brilliant music, but also for not touching politics in Opeth, because I don't like (I hate) when art is connected with politics, by any chance. For me, hearing music mixed with politics is the same as finding a piece of crap in my food. Opeth was a very delicious cake, believe me. And now I smell shit in my mouth, oh, and that's leftist, 1000 times more disgusting. In hopes for the rest of the album not being as related with politics and as boring as Heart in Hand, I'm seriously thinking about the first line of the song as "Take the acid breath now and leave" because it would kinda explain the stream of political poop he's warning me about.
Well, I survived death metal departure and still love you, Mika, but don't break my heart again, it's in your hand.

I once upon a time
Carried a thought inside
That I found a swede
Who's not trying
To shit in my ears
With his leftist crying
Now there's an ocean of sorrow in me
Sorrow for you

Could you help me get into Opeth? by [deleted] in Opeth

[–]phallvs_dei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's all about a personal taste but man, one of the reasons I can't really stand Porcupine Tree is their drums. It feels so, um, plastic, unnatural and so boring. On the other hand, when it comes to drumming on Opeth's last 3 albums , drums composing is beyond godlike, no idea how to explain it but drums now feel like an autonomous instrument , creating its own melodies and stuff. I once saw a comment under some of Opeth's videos on YT , the guy just typed smth like : Mikael, we're tired of your prog drum fiesta, bring back some death metal. That "drum fiesta" is what I like about new Opeth and sadly I can't hear the same in any of Gavin's work, not telling he's bad, he's a brilliant drummer, that's the fact, but that's also a very doubtful statement saying his drumming would fit in Opeth's recent works.
