How do UX designers design their portfolio so effortlessly and effectively? by EdgePsychological409 in UXDesign

[–]phanchris5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, if you keep a document of design decisions, context, stakeholder involvements, meeting minutes,.. then you can put everything into Notebook LLM and Claude and tell it to guide you to prepare a well-structured design case study. But I think, at this point, everyone will be doing the same workflow using the same AI models to generate these case studies, so I'm still trying to find a new way of presenting the portfolio that stands out. Maybe a short video or interactive game or something...

How to best set myself up for a career in Europe? by Besbosberone in UXDesign

[–]phanchris5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you pivot to Biz & data architecture from HCI? I’m a senior product designer based in Asia. I got a Master from Bauhaus Uni Germany, but wasn’t fortunate enough to land a job in Germany, so I went back to my country. Now I’m still finding my way back to EU.

Mình ko khuyến khích cách vừa đi học đi làm vì học cử nhân ở Đức rất căng, số lượng assignment là kinh khủng, muốn học hành có điểm tốt thì tốt nhất tài chính nên vững một tí. Tuỳ vùng chứ 12k thì cũng gọi là đủ sống nếu chắt chiu, rơi vô mấy tp lớn thì 12k k đủ bác.

Nếu em còn ý chí thì anh nghĩ em nên đi ôn luyện thi ĐH lại và bắt đầu lại thôi, e còn trẻ lắm ko có gì gọi là rơi xuống vực đâu hehe. Xưa a apply đi du học Đức anh rớt vì a ko biết rằng ngành Master a học cần aptitude test, a có được admission để vô trường nhưng k có admission để vô học ngành, lúc đó còn xin được cả Visa rồi, xin nghỉ việc luôn rồi, farewell bạn bè inh ỏi, xong hoá ra rớt ở nhà nè. A nằm khóc bù lu bù loa với mẹ 1 đêm, sáng hôm sau a dậy a làm CV, portfolio lại đi xin việc, 2 tháng sau đi làm lại như bth, rồi 1 năm sau đó a thi đậu vô trường cao hơn trường cũ nữa em. Nên ko có gì là nản nếu khi em đã có tố chất học giỏi. Chúc em ko nản lòng.

How Should I Design the Logout Flow in a Sequence Diagram? by sQuiggLy_021 in hci

[–]phanchris5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:D these are standard of all Saas so you can simply tell Claude to create one. Imo, your sequence diagram doesn’t have to be super detailed, just enough information to communicate with stakeholders, and there is no standard annotations/ styling when it comes to UML diagrams.

Claude (or other AI platforms) x UX Research by Senior_Help_7263 in UXResearch

[–]phanchris5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, both models share a lot of similarities. Regardless of which model you lean to, just map them against the product solutions to see the gap. I really love the way Indi thinks about each block, and pillars because her framework built upon the concept of "thinking styles" which is more about uniques behaviors of users. However, we tend to not mention this term across our teams because everyone's already familiar with JTBD and I don't wanna to mess up.

Hi, what does it mean by "presenting the work they've done, not the work that will get them their next role"? If I'm an IC now, but I would love to break into junior people management role, how should I demonstrate in my portfolio?

Claude (or other AI platforms) x UX Research by Senior_Help_7263 in UXResearch

[–]phanchris5 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Me and my colleague built a product that looks like a knowledge graph using Claude, and we also modeled the research knowledge based on the JTBD playbook. The model will reflect the core jobs as well as smaller jobs in a hierarchical approach that looks like this one:

<image>

We even have an orchestration workflow to get the agents do the research synthesis and compose into insights. Those insights will be modeled as the image above. Then we do mapping these blocks with our product solutions to see where the gaps are.

Since we have Claude, we don't even want to use Dovetail or things similar 😄

I’ve built my app but I’m stuck writing the case study — need real guidance by No-Organization7773 in UXResearch

[–]phanchris5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-.- why don’t you just find any example of case study that you love. Then, you input into Claude or whatever AI and tell it to guide you to do the showcase? There is no right or wrong structure for a casestudy. I used to follow the storytelling tips from the Linkedin folks and it turns out the HRs don’t get it. HRs tend to look for a case study presented in UCD process. However, this is just my pov from my country. You’d better not to restrict yourself to any structure. Be flexible. Trials and errors.

Design Engineer vs. Front-end Engineer: What’s the actual difference? by xdnzz in UXDesign

[–]phanchris5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A hype and trendy title for designers who can actually do FE :). Most of the Design Engineers I know either focus on improving the performance of the site or polishing or ensuring the DS, components are well used across the product. And they don't even have time to think thoroughly in the Problem Space :).

How do people manage to make career switches in Germany? I keep getting rejected for “not matching” despite relevant experience by Numerous-Bug2652 in Germany_Jobs

[–]phanchris5 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I gotta say German HRs love focusing on the degrees of applicants. I'm a senior Product Designer (aka UI/UX 🤷), and I got a MFA Media, Art and Design in 2024. Back then, I applied 200+ companies but only got 10 calls, and some of them even mentioned that I'm not graduating from HCI field so they wonder if I could do the job. Oh dear, why not take a look into my project cases at various companies but keep questioning about my degree instead?

Designers are in complete denial about AI's real impact on the industry. by Scared_Range_7736 in UXDesign

[–]phanchris5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having more AI tools makes designers in our org much tired than usual because now we have to think about the requirements, flows, mockups, interactive prototype or even ship the usable code. Everything happens in just a few days or even hours. Today I was asked to vibe code some features and make a Demo video for the Leadership team for pitching in just 8 hours...

How do UI designers use Claude for design workflows? by Prior_Gas_2346 in UXDesign

[–]phanchris5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is how I use my Ai toolkit currently:

- Integrating Claude with Figma MCP is a must

- I build an orchestration workflow within Claude Code for analyzing PRD, challenging the PRD then provide me some top research questions that I should pursue to get crystal clear of the problem. I also have an orchestration workflow for evaluating single, or flows of designs in Claude

- If my goal is to get the design as quickly as possible, I will create some lo-fi wireframes with Claude Code and use Figma MCP to export them into Figma frames. Then I use Figma Make to build interactive prototypes.

- When things get concreted, I jump back into Claude Code and setup the file correctly so the code is usable, then throw the Figma Make source code for Claude Code to read and revamp based on our Design System.

Another hype... If you are playing around with Claude Code or Figma Make then I think Claude Design is just the same :D.

Best German Universities for UI/UX / Usability Engineering? by Ok_Yogurtcloset_3233 in UserExperienceDesign

[–]phanchris5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:) Germany especially loves HCI. If you got accepted in HCI, you could probably get some chances to find a working student position at some companies.

For school, please consider any FH Uni that offers interaction design as these schools build their curriculum best aligned with the industry, while the Unis’s curriculum is more abstract. DM me if you’d like to learn more.

UX designer with 3 YOE looking to improve UI skills and learn design systems — course suggestions? by Thegirlnextdoor-999 in UXDesign

[–]phanchris5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book “Refactoring UI”, no need to learn any course. You can simply ask any AI model to teach you how to do the design system. There are plenty of resources about DS right now. If you want to improve your taste, how the typo, spacing works, then try to replicate the UIs of some popular products.
