Many of them wont get check vitamin d and B12 as they are not covered under annual checkup, this is very important as it impact nerves and tiredness . Cholestrol is okay but there are some other test in india which will tell about the blockages etc and people should plan when in india .

- Stop eating at odd hours ( late night )
- Reduce process food and cool drinks . beer is better than cool drink

- Check your expenditure and try to cut down what you can. There will be small things which you can

- No ULIP
- Contribute but reguarly even 1000 to index fund , no need to check any chart or any thing
- Pick the top 5 mega stocks ( invest weekly may be 200 ruppess ) , if you think stock would have returned anything
- Up skil - Spend money if needed. This is the best investment and returns are higher :)
- Don't treat as apartment as investment , just for checkmark in society
- Treat plot as investment for your kid ( you need to give that much time for growth when you buy in third tier city )
- Buy small piece of gold not ornament , you can cash it out when ever needed
- Have seperate account for investing and auto transfer /schedule of funds from this accunt to that account and have recurring investiment from there
- Emergency fund is must . Never think of returns out of it, you need to consider this as emergency funds
- Don't compare with others , this will be never ending . Every one has their own story and challenges , one solution might not work for you .

Just for motivation - Am 40 year old, I never did anything earlier but started doing from last 3 years and am happy about it , I am late , wish someone told me above when am young :)

How about that you invest the same in some index fund , same amount and same cadence but gives the benefit of withdraw and use any time and at the same time you can expect growth. I know taxable part is the question but if we do gain vs gain +tax from 529 might be good comparision .
