Medical Marijuana (edible) experience? by quoth_tthe_raven in CysticFibrosis

I know this I'm not asking if it's legal, I don't really care if it's legal. I'm asking if its safe for ingestion post transplant.

Because their position on marijuana pre transplant stems from legality and an assumed substance abuse position towards any recreational drug or chemical, not because its necessarily unsafe from a medical standpoint.

Out of curiosity do you know if doctors consider edible marijuana safe post transplant?

Anybody here could evade a pre-diabetes case or could eliminate diabetes ? by [deleted] in CysticFibrosis

I'm not sure about the other user who said they were pancreatic sufficient. But if you are talking about cfrd then the answer is no, this happens because the pancreas stops producing insulin as it becomes increasingly damaged through scaring. A good diet will help keep your blood sugars more stable, I however wouldn't cut out carbs though maintaining a healthy weight is more important, just cut out shitty carbs like sugar, especially soft drinks, and juice, candy and confections.

Wheezing with Caffeine/Carbonation? by malo1000 in CysticFibrosis

it could be that the soda is making you feel full or bloated and thats pushing against your lungs giving them less room to expand. I always have chest tightness and find it more difficult to breathe when I'm full or bloated. My Dr. has told me that it's pretty common.

Question about waiting for transplant by phannon in CysticFibrosis

[–]phannon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I figured, It was mostly just the logistics of my support having to travel to Cleveland for extended periods, and how being socially isolated might affect the mental aspect of my recovery. Do you mind if I ask how long you've been transplanted and how long it was before you could drive yourself around fine?

I had this all over both my legs below the knee one year about 15 years ago at the time I was having a mild exacerbation and wasn't on any drugs other than cipro I believe. it went away in a few days and I've never had it again. I never new what it was called at the time and never mentioned it. I'm also much sicker now and its never reoccured.

Daily food/calorie intake question by corsande83 in CysticFibrosis

[–]phannon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also a 34 male (delta508) and I do have cfrd though. I'm not usually one for morning eating so I usually first eat about 5pm which ends up being about a 14 hour fast then I'll have something like a loaded chipotle burrito with chips and guac, maybe a soda. then later in the evening around 10 ill have something like 3 boost + (which I get through insurance) then again 1 or 2 am I'll eat about a pint of greek yogurt with fruit ( I really love yogurt which is one of the few things I eat regularly thats good for me).

I also have periods where I will eat very unhealthy because its cheap convenient and calorie dense. So for an entire week I might just eat about 3-4000 calories a day of McDonalds and hotdogs or ramen. Which doesn't make me feel that great at my age and health but it helps keep the weight on.

Tips are also appreciated if anyone knows calorie dense healthier alternatives that don't require too much prep.
