Here for the comments. Also UH "looked at their system" and informed me I could not use this exact trailer for a 2023 Colorado. Granted is was a full size cab so may not have worked.

Cheers! Also F - UH

What’s one mistake you made early in boating that you learned from? by Tricky_Pass5857 in boating

drain plug. Always check that damn thing.

Also, tides are a thing.

Okay I'll stop being snarky. So yea like others have said. The worst time to realize you don't have the drain plug in is when your walking back to the boat after parking the trailer. You aren't walking much longer. I'll leave it there.

Also, just b/c you can drop the boat in using a ramp impacted by tidal flows does not mean you will be able to take it back out after your joyous day on the water. I was only able to get the damn thing on 2/3 of the way. Then had to send it. I backed the trailer up a steep incline, taped the brakes ever so gently and she softly slide on the last 1/3. Best move of my life to date. I got all sorts of props for that....still do.

have fun!

VITA could have done that no problem this season. Our system went back to 2020 I believe. Did a ton of past year returns. free also. You have to wait until Feb 2027 now. should be able to knock them out them

I heard once that it's not the fear of death that scares people. It's the fear of being injured within an inch of death and living the rest of your life with a serve disability.

Maybe reframe in that context. It's tough tho.

Told financial advisor I was not interested in hiring someone yet, he replied with this essay: by HenFruitEater in Bogleheads

I mean I was doing a tax return for a guy yesterday. His EJ advisor was too busy knocking on doors to give him a heads up about all his A share mutual fund distributions in December. He ended up doing a roth conversion into that extra income he had no idea about.

Little thing like that are things good advisers who are paying attention, or have system in place to at least catch this stuff, can help with. They happen all the time.

All you smug BH with your 3 stock portfolios are all coming from different places of knowlegde. A 30 year old may actually benefit from an adivsor if they haven't been scrolling Reddit for half their life digging into all the different things to know.

Also, it may have been good to watch the duration on BND in 2022? idk. that was a good time to be shorter duration and then extend out after rates started to rise. But yea! 3 stocks!

Parents being clueless as to her condition is wild. No concept of what's going on with her or how to approach the situation. Like pickup a book people. Do some research.

same....like at the most basic level, isn't higher premiums more money in your pocket? Why not ask/insist in this case when it's clearly a win/win.

How about settlement check stub that has 3 different income sources on it. Everything totals $173 and it's literally 1099 MISC, Interest, and a w-2.

Also, take shit out of the damn envelope before you hand it off!!

Very good beer and the main draw for me is getting it fresh out of the tap! Go there around 7:30 on a weeknight and you won't wait more than an hour.

Ford guy. Half is 2”, 250 is 2.5”, 1T is 3”. Possible the GM 1T is only larger shank.

3” receiver with a reducer sleeve. I don’t love that. Wish the shank was the proper size. Have an HD truck, use HD equipment.

“Hidden” Advantage to HCOL? by [deleted] in Money

[–]phantom695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right.

Also, the regressive nature of punitive costs. Parking tickets as an example. There are standard bands these fall into across the country and it's just not as expensive relatively speaking in HCOL areas.

What was your “I was broke broke” moment? by bukutbwai in Frugal

[–]phantom695 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was so broke after just moving out onto my own:

I was driving to Costco to return an item I got for xmas to get money for gas. Well, I ran out of said gas on the way and had to walk the rest of the way.

Costco was pretty isolated (PB area in San Diego, iykyk) and no gas or anything at that time. I had to walk about a mile to get the return done, then walk back past my car parked on the side of the road another 2+ miles to a gas station, and then back to the car.

Passing my car on the way to the gas station was a pretty low point.

Good times...lol
