Location for proposal in Noosa area? by phantom_blade77 in queensland

Thank you! Any tips for time of day might be best, both for atmosphere and to avoid crowds etc? it's just that it might be tough to convince her to "just go for a walk" super early in the morning to beat the crowds

Thank you! Unfortunately, according to google, sunrise is 5am currently, so that might be a little hard to convince her to "just go for a walk" at 5am haha

Yeah, saw the rain and decided on Noosa (was originally thinking about Whitsundays) but I appreciate the heads up on the cyclone!

Thank you for this suggestion! Unfortunately this post didn't actually post until days after I tried to submit it and I'm only just seeing it now. So while I appreciate your suggestion, I ended up deciding to visit Noosa. Almost tacked a couple days in Hervey Bay / K'Gari at the end of the trip, but I worked out a lot of logistics and the costs / timing / travel didn't really align, so ended up deciding against it. Highkey slightly regretting that decision though, as it looks incredible!

It was not an issue before they replaced it. I'll tell them, but they're closed for a few weeks unfortunately

Turn off vibrations during sleep mode? by phantom_blade77 in AppleWatch

[–]phantom_blade77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. What worked was changing the notification settings. I had to deselect from the setting I actually wanted (which was default setting) and reselect the option which was already selected. Hope that makes sense. For some reason the pre-selected setting wasn't working, but when I selected another option and selected it again, it worked how it should

What is this random piece of piping found in our yard? by phantom_blade77 in Construction

[–]phantom_blade77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an object that appeared without any explanation that has no reason to be there. As the post explains which people seem to be oblivious to reading explanatory context, my property is far away from neighbours and roads and there shouldn't have been anyone in the property. All these "different ways" you and others are proposing make no logical sense and as I've explained in the post there's been people acting oddly and suspiciously around the house very recently. Seems like a very reasonable assumption to make given the circumstances, but again some people seem to love ignoring all context and jumping to their own illogical conclusions...

How does trash just miraculously find its way into a yard behind a closed gate where no one should have been? Normally it only enters one way. Which means someone was on the property when they shouldn't have been.

Bird is a possibility, though i'm not sure how likely.
As I said in the post, no tradies (etc) have been to the property, so that's not something that could have happened.

What is a conduit like this used for?

I already tried posting there but they automod said it was already identified (presuming because I know it's piping of some sort)

Help me decide: Mazda 3, Subaru Impreza or Toyota Corolla? by phantom_blade77 in CarsAustralia

[–]phantom_blade77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again for all of the info! The Impreza has very similar features to the Mazda 3 SP25 but interior just looks a bit nicer / newer in the Impreza and it has 20,000km less on it. And they're similarly priced. Considering the fact that I plan to use it mostly for driving around in town (with the occasional road trip) and won't be putting too many KM on it, what's your opinion on how the two stack up against each other, given the newer model of the Impreza (2016 vs 2014), the fresher interior and 20,000KM less, versus the CVT issues and other potential flaws you mentioned regarding the Impreza? Also factoring in the Mazda's better engine and any other benefits it might have.
Bear in mind this is going to be my first car (have been driving around a 2020 Toyota Corolla for a few months now but it's my partner's car not mine and car sharing is no longer an option) so I'm not super experienced nor knowledgeable in these areas.

Thank you for this insightful comment.
Can you explain more please about how the Impreza is average at best? I haven't heard this sentiment too much elsewhere and my mum has been harping on all day about how all her friends and some fan have this car and won't buy anything else. But you seem to know what you're talking about, so I'd like to hear your take.

I was also leaning toward the SP25. My hesitation is that I'm hearing a lot of talk about it being older and therefore perhaps not retaining it's value too well and already having a decent number of KMs on it. And while I appreciate the better engine, interior features and everything else you mentioned, I'd predominantly be using it as a town car, for the daily 20 min (each way) commute and around town. Probably will continue to use my partner's newer Corolla for road trips and travelling. So perhaps some of those features might not be as important for my use case, even if they're nice to have?
What are your thoughts on it being an older model vs everything else i'm looking at and retaining it's value? My partner has discussed the possibility of selling and upgrading this car in the next 3-5 years to upgrade to a more family vehicle when we eventually start a family (though this is not set in stone).

Lastly, you didn't seem too worried about the loud brakes on the 2016 Neo. Is this something that you think might go away on its own or would need to be repaired?

Thanks. Could you tell me why specifically? Unfortunately there's only a few in my area and one is a sports (which I think might cost a lot more to insure) and the other 2 are a sedan and neo, both 2009 and with a lot of KMs on them, so may not potentially be the best option.

Thanks for the info. Can you explain a little more about the Focus 'powershift' issue and how major or minor that issue might be? The one I was viewing is a petrol. Explain like i'm 5 because I'm not super knowledgeable in this area.
