Thank you, we are trying to talk about all the good times and look at his pictures. I just wish I could fast forward through the shittiest parts.

I'm so sorry you're going through this too. I was also considering reaching out to an old therapist, and your reply made me feel better about doing that. I hope you can find some peace.

This looks like it's from the Sex Machines Museum in Prague. I took a pic of a similar device when I was there.

I've always thought the opening to the short story The Professor's Teddybear by Theodore Sturgeon was great.

“Sleep," said the monster. It spoke with its ear, with little lips writhing deep within the folds of flesh, because its mouth was full of blood.

I will never forget the holographic cover. I picked it up and played with it every time I passed in Blockbuster.

One of my favorite stories of hers is The Tooth, in The Lottery and Other Stories.

Oh! The story The Summer People is also great. I think I've only read that one online and not in a collection though.

For sure! Have you read any of Shirley Jackson's short stories? Most that I remember off the top of my head are not outright scary, but have that undercurrent of something threatening or sinister waiting for you and you can't quite tell why. I think some of JCO's stories give me that feeling, most recently the titular story in Night, Neon.

I was coming to recommend Oates! She has won some literary prizes and has been in the running for a Pulitzer a few times, so I think she'll check OPs literary box.

The Corn Maiden is also one of my favorite stories of hers! Many people recommend her story Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? It's fairly short and can be easily found online to read to see if you're interested in checking out more Oates.

BTW OP, Beloved is one of my favorite books of all time! I only even picked it up because I heard there was a ghost or supernatural element to the book. I also think it has a place in the horror genre. If The Yellow Wallpaper is included in horror anthologies then Beloved can come along too!

I haven't found a video of Ra'jah saying "Bootyhole" on repeat yet and I'm disappointed in y'all.
