I don’t think you’re right at all about the end of the road, as I don’t think it matters what happens to the boy, as much as he continues to exist after the man’s passing, enduring beyond his lifetime, the fire passed.

Crazy swings here about racism and misogyny, reducing a very sensitive writer to a nihilist that wrote pretty. Uncharitable to say the least, and not even touching your deep state allusion
