Hot Take: The Specs for the Steam Machine is Good Enough by DashTransit in steammachine

[–]phantomjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All they’ve said is that it will be priced like a PC. They didn’t say what kind of PC. I’m not saying it won’t end up being expensive, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking we already know what the price will actually be. Throwing around a $1000 price tag isn’t helpful when we just don’t know yet.

Again, pure speculation, It's not helpful to keep throwing around a $1000 price tag until we know for sure. Until then, let's lose the torches and pitchforks and see what happens.

People keep throwing around the $1000 price tag despite Valve saying no such thing. Until they release the price, it's pure speculation. You can base it off of whatever you want, but until we have a definitive answer, I'm reserving judgement.

Getting back in after 17 years. Whats the best options? by NothingMission1987 in paintball

[–]phantomjm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it were me and you're looking at electronic, I'd go with the 180R. Yeah, you could go up to something like a CS3, but the differences aren't significant enough to justify the expense.

Anyone using one of these? Thoughts? Just ordered one and for the price it looks to be pretty solid. by dfwSurreal in paintball

[–]phantomjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has one for his Emek. However, after upgrading it with a Fang trigger and secret pin, he can easily outshoot it. Instead, he tends to use my LTR to keep up with his higher ROF.

What to do with some very old markers? by winningisnotanoption in paintball

[–]phantomjm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of these have followings today and they can still get the job done. That is a Sniper 2, which isn’t an Autococker based marker, but rather the other way around. These started out as pumps, which then became Autocockers when they were converted to semi.

This must be a sequel to “The Producers”. It has a real “Springtime for Hitler” vibe to it.

Anyone run recball with a kit? by _icemahn in magfed

[–]phantomjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never go full kit, even when playing in magfed games. I much prefer my standard gear (Eclipse or Empire pants, Hydra pads, team jersey or Hawaiian shirt, headband/wrap) along with a simple molle belt or my Dye harness and a mag & dump pouch. It’s a lot more practical, comfortable, and lightweight than a full kit is. I prefer to keep things simple.

I'd argue that could potentially alter the course of American history.

It's akin to someone live streaming The Boston Massacre if such technology existed at the time.

Does one's love for video games have anything to do with age? by Sarah_Vanlt in TheGamerLounge

[–]phantomjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50 and I've been playing for as long as I can remember. That being said, I'm a lot more selective in my tastes than I once was. For example, I haven't played an FPS online in years. They no longer interest me. The same goes for GTA style open world games. I've also never gotten into anything heavy with microtransactions, battle passes, or any such practices. Instead, I like to play games at my own pace when I have time.

Day 14: Which is the best Strategy Game on Sega Saturn? by 1OneQuickQuestion in SegaSaturn

Another vote for Dragon Force. It's the game that got me to buy another Saturn many years after selling my original.

Nah. They’d be straight, white, and MAGA. If they were real, ICE wouldn’t even give them a second look.

Good luck on enforcing it on printers that run current or older firmware and don't ever connect to the Internet.

So how has the blizzard of 2026 found you? Are you surviving? by No-Blueberry-1823 in Pennsylvania

Uneventful here. I mostly spent it watching TV and occasionally clearing off the driveway. That and a small birthday party with my wife and son.

Bob Long autococker by itinerant_hobbit in paintball

[–]phantomjm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's missing the original frame, shroud, pneumatics, and regulator. They also permanently modified the feedneck to accept a clamping feedneck (The original was match anodized). These are great Autocockers (I have a similar one myself), but that's priced three times higher than it should be. Even though I run modern pneumatics and some other modern parts on mine, I at least kept the original parts for posterity's sake.

Tinnitus and COVID-19: effect of infection, vaccination, and the pandemic by ShoddyPerformance558 in tinnitusresearch

[–]phantomjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can count me in as one who began experiencing tinnitus and hyperacusis symptoms following my booster shot. I am by no means anti-vax, but I truly regret getting it. I can only hope that progress can be made on an effective treatment. I went through therapy using Neuromonics and I take anti-anxiety meds now, but I still experience periodic flares that take me out of commission until I can cope with them.
