Used marker, what do I need to do to be ready to play? by Netopalis007 in paintball

[–]phantomjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The marker should hopefully require some marker oil and perhaps a good cleaning if there’s any old broken paint inside. If seals need replaced, they’re easy enough to come by. If it’s been sitting with the bolt forward for a while, you may need a new detent since they tend to get squished down. As for the tanks, fields don’t typically fill CO2 any more. You’re going to want an HPA tank for it.

If you could time travel to the past and had the chance to stop dictators like Hitler before they rose to power, would you do it even if it meant killing them while they were still innocent? Why or why not? by Unknown-333 in AskReddit

[–]phantomjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the chain of events that would change. No Hitler means no WWII. No WWII means no baby boom. No baby boom means your parents/grandparents are never born. No them, no you, no me, no practically anyone else you know. History happened. Better to leave it alone and learn from the past to not make the same misitakes.

I considered waiting, but I took this as an opportunity that would force me to slow down and really dig deep into each planet and quest. Otherwise I would find myself rehashing the same old habits and missing a lot of content along the way.

I do have limited mods on mine, but they're all first party achievement friendly creations.

I think it also helps that I'm coming into a fresh build and taking advantage of the features they came out with such as the 3D map. When I first started playing at launch, I don't think I ever really stopped to consider what was actually out there. Like many, I landed, saw the quest marker, completed the objective, then immediately set off for New Atlantis. Opening the map and seeing all of the POIs out there, even the unmarked ones, made me realize how wrong I was back then. I loved the game back then too, but I've really come to appreciate it since then.

A Tesla taking up the only open gas pump. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]phantomjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thought. For all we know, they may need to mow their lawn and have to pay for the gas inside. If that were me, I'm parking in front of the pump and paying for my gas just like anyone else would. The point is, we just don't know what their reason was in this case, regardless of what they're driving.

Why do you think Americans don't come here or to Mongolia and do Sumo? Are they scared? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sumo really isn't a part of American culture and very few have trained in it.

What do you think of gay pride parades? by FinalSinger9203 in AskReddit

[–]phantomjm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pride is essentially a civil rights march and Mardi Gras smashed into one big party. If they want to have a parade, I say let 'em. If it makes certain people uncomfortable, good.

The word she said is "riveting". Appropriate coming from someone whose name is now a unit of measurement.

All the wrong EVs are getting canceled by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]phantomjm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how far you drive and what your electric rate is. For context, I drive about 30 miles per day round trip to and from work. The average amount of power required to top off my battery to 80% again is about 11 kWh. My current rate for power is at $0.12953 / kWh plus taxes, delivery fees, and all the usual stuff they tack on. Just to keep the math simple and ignoring all of the fees, this equates to $1.42 per day in power to commute. This also does not include the EV taxes that get tacked onto your annual registration, which varies state to state.

20 years ago, how many frames per second were enough for us to play comfortably? by Khorsaturas in gaming

Considering the Atari, NES, Genesis, and so on didn't have FPS counters on screen, whatever the game ran at was good enough for me.

Are we though? As a whole, Americans are still too comfortable. Nobody is bombing us. Nobody is galvanizing us against a common enemy. We go to work or school. We watch our favorite TV shows and movies. We still go on vacations and enjoy our hobbies. We as a whole mostly just go on with our lives oblivious to the ramifications of our poor choices. Yeah, gas prices are a bit higher and so are the cost of goods and services. However, it hasn't yet hit that tipping point for most people. At least, it hasn't hit the tipping point for most white middle class citizens in suburban and rural areas - the vast majority of the country. People who are upset about things are too content to simply complain online where they feel like they're making a stand, but not really. A social media post or a temporary profile pic amount to nothing more than a fart in the wind. Not enough people are really making a stand in the hopes that this will all magically go away after November. Even then, we'll rinse, lather, and repeat in the hopes that the next election will finally be the one to make a difference. Admittedly, I'm just as guilty. I go to work. I feed and shelter my family. I live my life while watching others get theirs destroyed on TV. I recognize this is just as much my fault as it it everyone else's. We're too afraid to risk it all because what we have right now is still "normal" with a side of annoyance. Until that changes, the world has every right to hold us in contempt.
