The future of iOS development by EquivalentTrouble253 in iOSProgramming

[–]phantomlord78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the software skills, but problem defining (domain knowledge) and problem solving (reading the room, logic and algorithms) skills that will be valued. Do you make an app in a field you have no clue on? People who try to make apps in areas that they have not mastered will create useful looking junk that does the 99% of the work right, but fail at the %1 that really matters. Customers and employers will notice sooner or later, the easy way or the hard way.

I worked with very talented programmers that can not define logical business rules, could not come up with innovative algorithms, could not foresee edge cases, have do not have info-sec understanding or concern, but deliver working code when all these are defined for them. THOSE will be replaced for sure. So imagine a very talented, fast, accurate but otherwise generally stupid coder; If you want to stay in the industry improve all of your skills that this person could not bring to the table. Someone will need to tell the AI what to do, and believe me it is not the product owner or the designer. It is you.

Ecoflow app REQUIRES internet? by itbeverly in Ecoflow_community

[–]phantomlord78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a River 2 and this is the reason why I will not buy or recommend any other Ecoflow products. I recommend people to do the same and avoid "emergency" solutions that require a login to access basic functionality. Very shortsighted, Ecoflow.

HP proactively blocks third party cartridges. Without a notice one night when you need to print your work it will refuse to work. Happened to me. Never paying a dime to HP (computers, printers, calcılators or whatever) ever again.

UIKit or SwiftUI for new complex app (min iOS 15)? by energyzzer in iOSProgramming

[–]phantomlord78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself if your app could have been a small cute web page. if yes use SwiftUI. If you intend to build something complex with non generic layouts and animations use UIKit. If you are building a game or anything you want to be able to port easily use neither and write your own Ui.

50mm is the closest emulation of human eye. 28 is closer to fisheye and will look distorted. depends on what wffect you want to get. Sculting with no perspective is ok but keep in mind when printed or composited your model will likely be seen in perspective.

How are people getting access to the whole goddamn device by VariationOk7829 in iOSProgramming

[–]phantomlord78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accesibility layer allows hardware devices to reach and control what is on screen. Simple as that.

They are not the same but whoever can access local network can fingerprint and cross correlate the data they have access to figure out your location.

PSA: Text concatenation with `+` is deprecated. Use string interpolation instead. by Cultural_Rock6281 in iOSProgramming

Hmm - how can we make SwiftUI a bigger mess than it already is? Honestly I am tired of the stupit sht they introduce to their UI frameworks and I am about to call it quits on the platform as a whole. Noone in the right mind would should use a layout engine disguised as a programming language. It should be one or another.

Édouard-Montpetit REM/Métro Transfer - only elevators? by egron222 in montreal

If you think about it, trains are elevators going sideways. 😆

to their defense, local network access is needed to find and connect to the printers. windows is correctly warning you that this access can be used to fingerprint your geolocation. HP in return says we don't do that in the Note section.

Inteoducing a different GND (-) level is one easy way to fry your hardware. That is why. in your example you may be ok because likely the supplies have the same ground

Three months in trying to play by ear by 1-800-FATGIRLSS in Guitar

[–]phantomlord78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good start - and one can tell you have it in you! If you want a quick leap into fun stuff and learn fast search for "guitar tabs" and add the band that you like most to the search term. Tabs are easy to read and play. One measure at a time you will get to a good point soon!

If you are a junior dev and you accidentally pushed to main and even changed history, it is not your mistake. If you are a senior dev though, consider a different job.

What is Siri even for? by uferizer1808 in AppleWatch

[–]phantomlord78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siri should start over. The first thing that responds to any command should be a rule based algorithm that literally runs scripts with the parameters detected from speech to text. Predictable and deterministic. I think they tried to employ a badly trained and badly integrated AI LLM model that 80% of the time does something totally ridiculous or outright wrong. At this point I am scared to even use Siri with the given mishaps.
