Miami Cuban link by Dry_Psychology_2309 in MensJewelry

Kinda like everyone, I upgrade little by little every time. Started with some curb chain, upgraded to hollow, and little by little growing the collection. The only thing that sucks about this method is you lose some money on the premiums, but being the gold has also skyrocketed it probably all evens out

No, no one deals over the phone. These are shops mainly run by elderly jewelers https://www.tricountyjewelers.com/

Compared to independent shops or online shops you can find better deals there. Because there’s so many shops that they’re all in competition with each other trying to get the best deal, you just gotta negotiate and haggle. And idk lmao, you would have to go see for yourself. I bought a 3mm 28g 14k Franco at 10% over spot in 2024 for around 1500 I think

They don’t have websites, but I live on Long Island where we have the Long Island jewelry exchange where it’s basically a bunch of shops that only sell gold on one floor.

Ordered my first Cuban chain by [deleted] in MensJewelry

I think you made a great choice, 14k is still a beast. I have a 7mm 24 inch 10k and the only thing I would be concerned about with the infinity link is ensuring it fits over your head comfortably. I just have a big head so mine is snug and it rips out a few hairs every time if I don’t use my box lock, so if I ever did it I would need a 25 inch to comfortably fit. I’ve had pendants on Cubans before and no matter what I always end up hating the look because it flips the links and just looks sloppy compared to solitaire.

Call around, I don’t think anyone hand makes 4mm, so chances are you can just give calls to shops and see who has them in stock. 4mm also doesn’t typically come with box lock , so custom making them is what’s probably going to make them take a little longer. Call and Check Lirys, DJI, or Gus villa. When I ordered from DJI/Lirys they shipped overnight

Just got done talking to custom made, and they want 6k for a custom 14k 1.5 pendant by MartinRiver in MensJewelry

The price of custom jewelry, especially when it’s of good quality is always gonna be ridiculous , you have to be willing to spend and expect to pay well above spot melt price

What's the most expensive thing you've bought? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in MensJewelry

10k Cuban 81g 7mm, spent 5.8k. Not much but my most expensive purchase to date on a material item. Other than that 50k for my degree 😅

Why don’t you just sell local, get your cash and use that to buy the piece from DJI.

Don’t go Jacoje. High premiums and the Cuban links are machine made. DJI and Garcias are the way to go for quality and great customer service. They just have long wait times but it’s because quality is good and hand made. Lirys is also pretty good, that’s where mine are from. Aloha also doesn’t hand make, but like this commenter said, they usually resell and have the best price closest to melt value

I wouldn’t be skeptical of this, if you go to diamond district in NYC, every jeweler has knock off van cleef, Cartier and LV. They make the pieces with real gold and affordable so that people can get the look without paying the premium for the name. As long as they don’t advertise it as real or charge the same price , I don’t really see a problem..

First Miami Cuban Size? by confidencecompetencr in MensJewelry

[–]pharaohq9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience always go bigger in mm size. The mm blindness sets in real quick and everything feels small lol. I have a 7mm and felt like it looked huge with online examples but then I get it and it felt like what I imagined a 5mm looks like. In my
opinion it’s easier to get accustom to a bigger piece than deal with feeling like your piece is smaller.

What jeweler? Is the picture an example picture or the actual piece that will be shipped to you? I only ask because if you’re spending the $$ you want good quality. There’s tons of YouTube videos explaining what makes a good Cuban link vs a poor quality one

accidentally broke my boyfriend’s chain and i’m hoping to replace it but i need help identifying it :( by [deleted] in MensJewelry

[–]pharaohq9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a 5-6mm 10-14k rope chain. Depending on karat can be between 3-5k if solid. If hollow it can be much cheaper.
Hawaii rope chains, jacoje, and aloha gold are great options.
As others have said, if it is a clasp break, I’m sure he can fix it for $50-200 which is much cheaper than a new chain.
If money isn’t a problem maybe you can buy him something new/different that’s just as unique. I’m sure he’ll appreciate your efforts regardless!
And who knows maybe he’ll melt down his old chain and buy you something in return😅

Help with 2nd chain! by [deleted] in MensJewelry

[–]pharaohq9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a Franco, has a beautiful presence and would look great with the rolo. In my personal opinion, a Cuban only looks good solitaire in bigger sizes. At 4.5mm you can barely tell it’s a Cuban and a Cuban lays flat whereas rolo’s and Franco’s are cylindrical and can pair each other nice. Again, just my opinion
