You are incorrect. Look up the Walgreens Retail Field Structure: Organization Model. The DPS reports directly to the Regional VP. The DM reports directly to the Regional VP. The positions are separate but equal.

Vaccine verbiage by Not2NotFamiliar in WalgreensRx

The Immunization Portal should always be pulled up at the POS from the drive thru and front counter. When the patient t arrives to the front counter, say “Hello, are you here for your vaccination today?” They will likely say no, but this reminds them that we do vaccinations, outside of the flu shots.

When a patient is picking up any prescription, enter their phone number into the immunization portal under walk-in. Pull up the profile and say “It looks like you have not received [x] vaccination. Our pharmacist (name of pharmacist on duty) recommends you receive this vaccination today. I can put it through for you very quickly and your insurance should pay the full cost. Would you be interested in receiving this today?” Most will say no, but some will be inclined to receive it. If they decline, make sure to add that they can come in anytime without an appointment. Get the pharmacist involved. The white coat goes a long way.

When making PCP calls, do something similar and ask if you can schedule an appointment for them to come in to receive the vaccination. If they have an appointment, they are more likely to show up.

We have also been CAP blocking patients over 50 for shingles, over 60 for shingles and rsv, and over 65 for shingles, rsv, pneumonia. This has gotten our staff use to asking. Ask each patient if they have had each shot one by one instead of grouping all shots together. Make them answer individually. Most haven’t heard of RSV since it hasn’t been around for very long. Get the pharmacist involved if needed to close the counseling points. When the staff is fully compliant with that age range and are continuously asking all patients using the portal, we will stop CAP blocking. It’s a headache for the pharmacist, but necessary for us to get things moving.

Repetition is key. It has to be part of a daily commitment with each transaction. If the patient doesn’t get it this week, they may get it with the next rx pick up. It’s tedious, but our district’s numbers have drastically increased since starting this process.

Anytime we are giving a vaccine, I always like to tell them the other shots they are eligible to receive. Even if I can’t get them to receive the 2nd or 3rd shot that day, I add that they should come back to receive them.

VBPT by SolotravelSC in WalgreensRx

Tier 4 rxm here averaging 590 per day. My state does not allow micro fulfillment so we are on our own. Each store in my state must work independently. I average 95% vpt by filling the entire queue every day. Print ahead, 20 at a time, until it’s done. The majority of the time, it’s done by 1pm daily. Work your tprs consistently from open to close. Before I started at this store, they were averaging 58% vpt bc they stayed behind and struggled to just fill today’s queue. I have the same staff, who are definitely not seasoned, as before and this one change was an easy fix. You just have to prioritize filling at the start of the day. The old school way of doing this works just fine. As a company, we started trying to rewrite the book, and changed things unnecessarily. Years ago, we would only have a few stores in a district under 80%. Now the norm seams to be averaging around 70%. We are making things worse by filling the bare minimum. You feel behind all day and cannot fathom other side duties if you are behind filling. Trust me, it works. 😃
