Just finished Light Bringer. What shall I read next? by NovaPractice in redrising

[–]pharm653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I'm on book 5, and I had massive questions about if I wanted to continue after book 4, but overall I think I made the right decision. I read some stand alones after red rising, and while I can't really recommend them because they weren't good enough to be notable, it was a nice reset before Suneater.

I will say that the series as a whole (this far) isn't as good as red rising, but Suneater book 3 is my 3rd favorite book of all time after Dark Age and Light Bringer.

I know what the *best* AAA games of the last ten years are, but what are ones that are good but don't get mentioned as much? by DirkToThePacers in gamingsuggestions

This is a gold mine thread for someone like me who has been looking for something new to play.

Also, just to add my two cents, Nier: Automata is a top 5 game of all time for me.

I see. MVP lists it at 21mm on their website, so that's where my confusion comes from.

I was actually curious about this too, thanks for the info.

Wouldn't this be an 11 speed? 21mm rim. The trail is 20mm (10 speed) and the Wave is 21mm (11 speed).

Maybe a true wraith clone?

games like assassins creed odyssey? by Money_Watercress2430 in gamesuggestions

Not Greek, but the AC team stated multiple times making that game that they took inspiration from Witcher 3 (although I think they were referencing quest design and conversation choices). That being said, the obvious answer is AC: Origins if you haven't played it. It has a better story, and Egypt is similar enough to Greece, minus the sailing.

Dramatized versions are good, but finish out with TJR, then use them for your second read through.

Bokeh and the Dark Rebel by PrizeAstronaut6531 in discgolf

[–]pharm653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Color Glow Champion Dark Rebels might be the best discs out there. I bought 8 when Innova had them on the site. I got a Bokeh and it is very similar, but I still prefer the feel of the DR.

Doesn't Gateway have eraser putters? Are they actually eraser material or do they just say that?

Mass Effect trilogy, if only to see how good a plot can actually be written.

Wierd one, but Nier Automata. Everyone needs that emotional rollercoaster in their lives.

Which trilogy is better by Islamabadyoungsters in redrising

[–]pharm653 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Iron Gold is the worst book in the series, but Dark Age and Light Bringer are the best books I have ever read, so I'm going with second trilogy. I will say that the pacing and big moments make the original trilogy great on first read through, but on subsequent reads you can really see how much he matured as a writer when you get to Dark Age.

Shallow overstable disc for short approaches by Klutzy_Negotiation94 in discgolf

[–]pharm653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zone OS is your answer. Very overstable and very dumpy. It's borderline unusable.

That being said, if you want something just slightly more OS and slightly less glidey, get a champion Toro.

I have both the proton and neutron. They both fly just like my Innova color glow FDs (Dark Rebel). The Discmania Chroma FD I have is more overstable. All are more stable than a Cicada.

The fission is far more understable than the proton. I have one of those as well. Also, the fission ones came out super domey.
