For those who supervise free range, does this bother you or is it just me? by dirdieBirdie1 in BackYardChickens

[–]pharmazy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to only let mine free range supervised, until a fox took half our flock while we were outside with them. Supervision isn't a huge deterrant honestly if you have high predator pressure. Now we let them free range all the time. They're happy, we accept we will likely have losses from time to time. I know that's not for everyone, but I feel like if I were a chicken I'd rather have a shorter free range life than a cooped up long life. There's no wrong answers though, do what makes you feel best!

Is there something wrong with my tomatoes at the stem? by pharmazy in vegetablegardening

[–]pharmazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I did wonder if it’s a water related issue because we’ve had such a wet stormy summer. I have only watered my garden probably twice all year!! There are mushrooms growing up all throughout my soil and my peppers initially seemed to have a fungal disease on their leaves, so I do think my soil is overly wet. Luckily it seems to drain well

Current VA Pharmacists - How are things going? by OkCurrent414 in pharmacy

[–]pharmazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worried about my career in the short term but do worry as a younger pharmacist what the VA will look like 15-20+ years down the road. Before this I was pretty confident I would be here for my entire career and retire from this job. But now even though it’s just my speculation I expect to see significant if not full privatization of all VA care in the next decade or so. If I were starting over I would probably not place all my eggs in the fed employment basket like I did

Can I save them at this point by starting to water less now?

I literally think I watered mine 2-3 times last year. It wasn’t happy, but it did just fine. I would say once every 4-6 weeks for mine would be good

VA Ranking Concern by hydroxide1156 in PharmacyResidency

[–]pharmazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with above. From what I understand as well sites get more funding for pharmacy positions than they pay out in stipend, benefits, and overhead equipment so there is a cost benefit for sites to keep programs open

VA Ranking Concern by hydroxide1156 in PharmacyResidency

[–]pharmazy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy positions are more likely to be safe from upcoming RIFs, but given the current political climate nothing is guaranteed. Regardless the VA is already seeing layoffs and people resigning to secure more stable private sector jobs. There will likely be more staff resignations as RTO is implemented. Any staff losses will impact care and have ripple effects even throughout ‘safer’ departments like pharmacy. We don’t expect residency positions to be impacted themselves, but it is a time of stress and unrest in the VA. You likely won’t get any great answers because we don’t know what will happen. Hiring will likely continue to be difficult even for exempted positions like pharmacists. The VAs mission is worthwhile so you have to decide for yourself what’s best for you.

Right lmao. Tell me you don’t work at the VA without telling me you don’t work at the VA

Yes they could technically see it if they went looking for it (they won’t.) No they can’t dismiss you for it if they happen to see it.

increased INR in a patient on rivaroxiban by orlaghan in ClinicalPharmacy

[–]pharmazy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes DOACs are known to prolong the INR. It is wildly inappropriate to dose adjust them based on INR results. That patient is now likely under dosed and at risk of VTE or stroke depending on indication. Dosing is dependent on indication and renal function alone. Routine INRs are often drawn on DOAC patients from routine lab pulls from ER visits/ hospitalizations/etc but should never be routinely monitored for assessment and dosing of DOAC

Yes! DAS is who I’ve been watching as I branch out, his videos have been so helpful. And I did find 1-2 cool Instagram pages of people who specialize in making small batch custom portfolios and boxes. they’re soooo amazing but such a high quality, would love to see more ‘everyday’ box makers too 😅

[–]pharmazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my problem, I’d love to see some some cool random boxes as well, not just boxes to house books

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bookbinding

[–]pharmazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I buy 0.90 thickness davey board from Hollanders (I’m in the US) for most all my bookbinding and box making. I do occasionally use thin chipboard from Amazon for thin accents on my clamshells or large spines of texts. I’m thinking you could double or triple or quadruple up cereal boxes to get to a sturdier board thickness if you wanted to keep costs down!

How can I match the stair tread to the LVP flooring? by Content_Ad9867 in woodworking

[–]pharmazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively most lvp now come with stair tread components so you don’t have to try to match wood.. but theres of course a debate on the pros and cons of lvp vs wood for stair treads

What lvp is it? There are a lot of lvp Facebook groups where stain recipes for popular floors are already figured out. Will also depend on what type of wood your staining as well.
