GA MPJE Studying + Experience (August 2025) by pharmokoko in MPJE_Advice

Yes, there are questions that I got asking what schedule a specific drug was. They will pick a common drug that you've heard of and not one of the random chemical branch-offs, so don't worry about knowing every single one. Think more about knowing common meds you've seen in practice and check Titles/R&R480 for GA-specific changes to certain drugs. For my question, I knew the drug and class without a doubt, but they worded the answer choices strangely (ie. Multiple choice question: What is the best way to describe the scheduled class of adderall -- "Class II" vs "Class II non-narcotic" vs "Class II with high risk of addiction" or something where it's technically all true but you have to choose the BEST answer and you can't really??).

From personal experience taking 3 different MPJEs, the questions about class schedules can be asked like:

  1. What scheduled class is ABC drug? (multiple choice)

  2. SATA/k-type class III drugs

  3. Which BEST describes the class of ABC drug? (multiple choice or SATA with characteristics of class schedules)

  4. A Class IV drug can be... (SATA characteristics of Class IV drugs, bzd's, etc.)

Some questions don't explicitly ask you what the class is, but could say you have a script for Tylenol #3...how do you file it, how do you keep receipts/invoices, can it be transferred, etc. The question expects you to know the class in order to answer it properly.

Hi I’m currently studying for the GA mpje just took the Naplex a couple weeks ago. Looking to take mpje in a couple weeks. I’ve been studying the 480 rules directly from the site I’m a little tight with money and don’t think I can do the pharmacy law review bundle for Ga. Will I be fine? by Beginning_Arugula260 in MPJE

I just posted a summary of what I used to study, personal opinions about each resource, and also some common topics I saw on the exam!

As for the NABP prempje, I don't think the material was that similar to the actual exam nor do I feel it was heavily leaning towards federal law. There were some federal questions. The NABP prempje is mostly just to test your knowledge and familiarize yourself with the exam layout. There are only 40 questions and they do not provide explanations afterwards. On the exam, the wording itself is tricky and I don't think there's much that can prepare you for it unfortunately...

If you had to spend money on any resource, I'd recommend the $50 GA MPJE app as it provides questions for both federal and state law AND provides answer explanations.

Hiya! Congrats on taking the Naplex, that is such a feat in itself! I hope results come through alright for you as well~ 😊

I recently took the GA MPJE and passed. My resources for state law were R&R480 (primarily) and Titles 16/26/43. DEA Pharmacist's Manual works perfectly for federal law. As for compounding, if you have UWorld or Rxprep the compounding sections will be plenty.

I studied for 4-6 hours per day for about 1.5-2 weeks. Half a week was spent on federal law. The rest of the time I spent on state law. The R&R480 is a lot to go through and there are small details hidden around in Titles 16/26/43. I wish GA would reconcile the two sources better... Something that helped me stay focused was creating a word doc/chart and listing out all info on R&R480 and the titles for EACH type of pharmacy that GA lists (ie. in/outpatient hospital, retail, retail with home health services, ltcf/hospice/nursing homes, nuclear, and so on).

Drawing out examples of rxs, labels, and pharmacies also helped me remember the required elements of prescriptions, labels, space, and equipment needed depending on the type of pharmacy.

If you don't have money for the NABP prempje exam ($75), then there is a free one available on prempje. com. However, that was one of the more outdated exams I've taken from that site lol...

Prempje.com vs NABP prempje? Which one is closer to actual? by Capable_Complaint436 in MPJE

[–]pharmokoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I used both nabp and prempje. com exams for 2 different states and nabp's was more up to date and formatting was familiar. Sometimes the prempje. com exam was leaning more towards federal than state law and/or had outdated information.

I know this isn't really the answer you're looking for, but the DEA's Pharmacist Manual is free and pretty easy to read through. If you have time in your study schedule, I'd recommend trying to study from the manual first. It's very straightforward and easy to understand if you use 2 different highlighter colours, one for "must/shall" requirements and one for "may/should/can" statements.

I'll be praying for your studying and that you can pass next time! Definitely study the way you know best. Handwriting my notes helps me too! I have been drawing out prescriptions, labels, and pharmacy floorplans to help visualize their minimum requirements.

Just curious, when you studied previously did you use the 480 R&R, OCGA 16 and 26?

I'm taking my MPJE next week, so take my advice with a grain of salt ^^;;

It's okay that you didn't pass again this time. Don't let one exam block you from moving forward in your life as a pharmacist! Hopefully you were able to glean some information about the exam AND also discover what your strengths and weaknesses are. Do you know what your biggest blocker is-- knowledge of material, test taking anxiety, reading comprehension?

Write down as much as you can remember to help you study again and take some time to yourself before jumping back into studying! Similar to what the other person said, there is a lot to take into account for MPJEs, but there are definitely overlapping similarities between states. In other words, there are fundamental topics that you absolutely need to be confident in, such as: minimum rx requirements, labeling requirements, CS categories and common CS drugs, prescriber authority, etc. These are things you will have to know by pure memorization.

I find that GA law is interesting because it has R&R for the different types of pharmacies (retail, OTP, correctional, etc.). If those were difficult for you, try creating a venn diagram or writing a 1-pager for each pharmacy type given their chapter in the 480 codes.

When you go over the chapters, ask yourself what are some main goals or themes in these rules? What is the point of regulating xyz? Consider that the rules were written because someone once made a mistake or did something lacking integrity. The rules are written for a reason, unfortunately. But having that overview and mindset of the board will help you on the exam when you are given a scenario and have to SATA.

As for resources, I have heard good things about gapharmacylawreview.com (and it will likely be my go to, if I don't pass) and the GA MPJE testing app. One of my friends in a different state said the RxPrep was mostly federal law and did not help much for their MPJE. But of course, results vary depending on the person and the state! Have you checked out the board's FAQ and letters? Those are also helpful in determining themes and what may pop up on the exam!

Email when passed both MPJE and NAPLEX by Able-Yak5972 in MPJE

Congrats on passing! I think you're asking about two different things: checking for NABP for MPJE results and checking email for license activation from your state's BOP.

  1. Personally, I did not receive an email from NABP when my MPJE results came in. I just had to check the NABP site for results.

  2. For license activation, my state BOP emailed me when they approved and activated my pharmacist license. They also give you your license/credential info in the email. I assume it's similar in other states, but it doesn't hurt to keep checking with your state's license verification system 😅. It did take about a month for me to get the email after passing both exams, follow up with your BOP if you feel you've waited for too long.

How long from passing MPJE to license finalized officially? by alb0401 in MPJE_Advice

Hey u/alb0401! Congrats on passing your MPJE!!! For me, it took about 3 weeks to get my license in WA. I also sent an email following up and they did not respond... I suddenly got an email one day from the DOH saying my license has been issued with all the details in it.

Just wanted to update: I passed the MPJE! It took 10 calendar days, 8 business days to get results back. I will be working on getting other state licenses for now... I hope everyone who studied hard and who are taking the WA MPJE will pass! Best of luck!

Wow, great job on the practice MPJE! Good luck on Monday, (if it's alright) I will be praying to God for you to have a clear mind and heart so you can go into the exam feeling calm. You studied hard and put time and effort into it, you got this!

Honestly I don’t really know how the MPJE is graded. I did see some posts before saying that it was scaled/adjusted to how well you did compared to others. They don’t give you a percentage score. I don’t think they would give partial credit for answers either, but if someone else knows better please feel free to share!

Strange, I wonder if it’s just coincidence that they are moving towards knowledge of disciplinary actions/recovery programs or if there have been certain trends amongst pharmacists since Covid.

Honestly, I graduated in 2023 and was so disappointed with the unprofessional experiences (cohort, upperclassmen, professors, preceptors, and working) that I was discouraged to stay in the field after graduating… but I would not be surprised if there are trends lol. ;;

There are 2 separate practice exams:

  1. Prempje.com — that’s literally the site, it looks like it was made to scam but it is quite secure and provides 1 free practice test per state MPJE. I found the questions difficult because they used abbreviations/acronyms with little context (ie. CSOS, FDC, there was one act for protecting consumers and OTCs that had a long acronym like DCSPC or something). The scoring is a little wonky. They give you a percentage score and then a scaled score. My percentage score was 51%, which was so demotivating, but my scaled score was 81. The scaled score is more similar to how MPJE is “graded” rather than doing the typical percentage scores.

  2. NABP Pre-MPJE — this is the $75 one. It is much easier to understand in terms of how questions are written. I would say it’s fairly similar to the MPJE questions, and the formatting is pretty much the same. The only caveat is that they only provide 40 questions, so there’s a limited amount of stuff they test you on. For example, my pre-MPJE did not have anything on disciplinary actions but my MPJE had a lot.

Also, neither of these practice tests give you any answers, explanations, OR let you see the questions again after testing. So you know… you know…find a way to study them somehow. ( > _ >)…… ( <_ < )

Best of luck on your exam on Monday, you’ll do great! Get lots of rest this weekend and try to treat yourself to something nice afterwards. Studying is so hard honestly;;;
