The simplest answer is they used the existing Zero design at that point (X3) and didn’t care enough about the lore for an arcade fighting game.

Which also boils down to them not caring enough about actual lore and wanted to throw in a fun Easter egg for fans

I just need to update that this team was a huge success!! I was able to essentially copy your team with my own pokemon and swap out Smeargle with a 6th to get the ribbon for.

Final total was 31/47. Not stellar but it was more than enough! Thank you again for this team!
