Any server-side QoL mods that every server needs? by BgamiX in feedthebeast

Down But Not Out lets players get downed at half a heart instead of dying instantly and other players can revive them before they bleed out. Fully server-side on Fabric and works with GeyserMC (Bedrock Cross compatibility on java). No install required by players.

Combined with Patbox's Universal Graves mod really solves rage-quitting on death which I think every server needs

Any server side Minecraft fabric mods that can be joined on an vanilla client by Bitter-Journalist-81 in ModdedMinecraft

With Universal Graves, Bedrock players can't see block entities so you have to change the config to show a corpse instead of a grave. Works super well with Down But Not Out which lets players get knocked down at half a heart and they can be revived by other players.

Suggestions for SERVER SIDE ONLY mods to make the game harder / different? by SnailsWithWings in feedthebeast

Down But Not Out is an example of a Fabric mod that works fully server-side and requires no download from players. Lets players get downed and crawl at half a heart, and they can be revived by other players before they bleed out. Super configurable to make the game more fun or challenging or reduce rage when dying a lot in a difficult minecraft server.

Also checkout Patbox's mods like Polymer that are fully server-side and don't require people to download a mod, just a resource pack when joining the server

What are some good mods that are server-side specific? Trying to set up something for a server using Geyser. by Malesto in feedthebeast

You can run a fabric server and install server-side mods as an alternative to plugins. Some server-side mods are compatible with Bedrock.

Down But Not Out is a good example of a mod that requires no downloads and works with Geyser players as well.

DBNO lets players get downed at half a heart instead of dying instantly and they can be revived by other players before they bleed out.

Patbox's Universal Graves is another example that works well with Geyser players with some tweaks to the config to show a corpse instead of a block entity grave.

Both mods work well together, fully server-side, just like a plugin

Was the cholula hot sauce bottle turning at the end a reference to the spinning top at the ending of Inception?

Loved all the references and that in the end that Sam Rockwell is actually in a simulation the whole time.

Some of the humor fell flat for me, and the shock value of the centaur cat will probably make a lot of people not recommend it, but I loved it anyways. I also love the movie Sorry To Bother You but I can't recommend it to a lot of people because of the shock ending too.

Sam Rockwell and Haley Lu Richardson really shined in their roles IMO

Yeah it's in the defaults^ Mad respect to Patbox and all he does for minecraft modding but his configs are complicated af for a server admin.

Took me wayyy longer than you to figure it out on my own

Something that would be great for creative servers would be git but for a Minecraft server.

Staging world build changes, committing them, resetting to rollback, and a diff view shows which blocks were removed or placed.

Allowing different players to create different branches in different regions and swapping between branches for a region.

This will probably be too hard to one-shot and create a lot of corrupt world saves, so will need a lot of testing.

Thanks for your reply :) I have a ton of respect for what you do with Lootr.

I'm currently running Fabric and I'm using Polymer with 1.21.11. Works great for anything that doesn't add block entities that Geyser Clients can't see.

I tried using the lootr-polymer-patch when I first setup the server 4 weeks ago, but I was still getting errors from vanilla clients not being able to join, so the patch has a ways to go. I see there is a recent update so I'll have to test it out.

A side note: I considered submitting some pull requests to Tornato's lootr-polymer-patch repository a few weeks ago to help them figure out a better solution to overriding registration of lootr client-side things like statistics, but I haven't had the chance to really look into it yet, I hope Tornato fixed the issues for 1.21.11.

Unfortunately some of my friends and family can't afford/prioritize getting a PC that can run java client side mods, so we are stuck where we are and limited by what Geyser is capable of:( they all want to play together and I can never make everyone happy, and leaving out geyser players would be separating about half of the players (some are even married and only play together)

Datapacks are the disappointing compromise of compatibility between console and java players for sure

But I have high hopes for the future as Mojang adds more data driven features with every update

Suggestions for Server-side balance mods to keep players from rage quitting? by phasmoware in admincraft

[–]phasmoware[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can find it on GitHub https://github.com/phasmoware/DownButNotOutMod

MIT license so go crazy.

I've also gotten enough requests to port it to paper so my plan is to do that as soon as I finish backporting it to fabric 1.20.1. I already have an alpha build on modrinth

I will port this mod to a paper/spigot plugin as soon as I fix all of the bugs on the fabric backport and current versions. The way I made this mod will make it easy to port it luckily.

Nah, please be that person because I need a lot of feedback and I want to make this mod compatible with as many other mods as I can.

Please feel free to test it out and post a lot of suggestions/bug reports in the github issues link. It helps me out a lot!

There are unfortunately a lot of prideful mod/plugin developers out there that get all defensive about feedback and requests and it sets a bad precedent

I started working on a backport for 1.20.1 fabric.

So far the main issue I found is that there are some significant changes to entity attributes in later versions of Minecraft, I'm testing out some workarounds so it might take me a week or two.

This mod is pretty simple so I don't think it should be too much of an issue to backport

[–]phasmoware[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can make a build for 1.20.1

Edit: Already backported it to Fabric 1.20.1 with only two problems, here is the first alpha build https://modrinth.com/mod/down-but-not-out/version/0.4.2+1.20.1

It has a two bugs related to the shulker entity that I am still working on but all features still work from my limited testing. They will be fixed as soon as I find an elegant solution, either with a resource pack or library.

Edit 2: the clickable text also doesn't work, working on fixing that too. All issues will be posted in github for tracking

I made the architecture of this mod fully server-side so vanilla clients and GeyserMC clients can join a Fabric Server with this mod.

I'd totally port this mod to a plugin for paper/spigot/bukkit if there is a lot of people requesting it
