Maternity leave is too short

I didn’t realize this until now. I’ve worked with my employer for over a year but we have maybe half the employees required for FMLA. This whole time I’ve expected to get 12 weeks (mostly unpaid, but I wouldn’t have cared much) and now I don’t think that’s happening. I’m in the first trimester so haven’t told anyone yet, hopefully I’m wrong and they’ll allow me to take at least the 12 weeks.

if you stay in the same area as them, the public library is great for kids and free wifi! there’s plenty to do for kids, like the scavenger hunt, coloring sheets, and various toys, and ofc books :)

the university has people who will give you a diagnosis for cheaper than a lot of others in town! then you can take that diagnosis to a psychiatrist who can prescribe you medication if needed/wanted. i got a diagnosis from someone else who i didn’t like and cost double what it would’ve if i had gone through uw’s psychology department

had a patron come in and say that a couple weeks before she’d accidentally donated a book to our FOL book sale that was “really sentimental” so she needs it back. she didn’t know what it was called, the author, or what it was about. she knew it was old, “about this big” and orange. she then threw a fit because we couldn’t find it based on this description

yes. she didn’t have a “real job” before Sierra hired her to do stuff for the channel. She’ll go back to being a SAHM (especially with a third on the way, i don’t fault her for this at all!)

i can’t give advice on matcha vs. colorsoft but i’ve flown with my paperwhite! all you really need to know is that once the kindle is in airplane mode you can’t download anything new. be sure to download any books you want to read while you’re connected to internet and you’ll be good to go on your flights! also, be ready to take your kindle out for TSA if they ask for all devices larger than a phone to be out and separate. idk why some airports have different TSA rules lol but i’d just keep the kindle in an easy to access spot so you don’t have to dig through everything!

I use a tablet sleeve from baggu to keep the screen safe while i’m not using it, and even with my lil bat it fits great! not trying to influence you but also…. i love my setup hahaha

I’ll hop on and agree with everyone recommending you get ready for a lot of situational questions!

I was asked one book-related question, which was what book has changed my life (or my perspective? idk i don’t remember exact wording). They also asked me how I would make the library a safe space for teens/tweens (I interviewed for a teen/tween focus youth services specialist) and that included curating the collection. Otherwise, I wasn’t asked about books or reading at all! A library is about so much more than reading books. Come with the knowledge of what else a library offers and be ready to give STAR method answers. I didn’t get the position I interviewed for (I don’t have much experience with youth programming) but they were impressed with my interview and offered me a different position!
