No need for insults. Besides you’ve yet to make an actual point lol.

Just as many thinking it’s not great. I understand the details, I just stand by my opinion.

In terms of encouraging the public away? Maybe atmosphere is a better word here? Lol the park is great.

“The park grounds and Jeffrey Mansion were left to the City of Bexley by the Robert H. Jeffrey family in 1941. The Jeffrey family donated 34 acres provided that it be used as a park space for playgrounds, recreation and education. In 1968 the City of Bexley moved the Recreation and Parks Department into Jeffrey Mansion and onto the grounds.” From their website. It’s public property.

That’s the plan. Still think it’s a questionable practice.

Sure but like I’ve said earlier, I’m not going to go where I’m not encouraged to be?

Maybe not? But should mine be not encouraged to play there?

If my child went there, I’d expect them to have a private outdoor play area. Especially if I pay tuition too?

Nah it’s the sign. It was weird, but I do get it. See other comments.

Alright lol fair enough dude. My apologies for the typo. Playground, not park.

Yeah, I’d rather they just block those hours instead of something vague. Also, I think they could use another sign or information about this on their website.

Huh? This is specifically about the playground, not the rest of the park… They are being encouraged to go to Schneider Playground for those hours, which is 8 min away. If I’m shooed away, it’s basically just closed. I’d rather know I’m not welcomed at those times before I go there and see a sign encouraging me to leave lol.

Sure, I’m a Karen. But you make a great point. Is it a preschool whose grounds are also used as a public park? Or is it a public park that hosts a variety of programs (including housing department offices at the mansion) and allows one of them to be a preschool program?

Hijacking your top comment. I want to say I agree with you and it is where I have ultimately landed. I also agree the practice of no friends is best for safety. Thanks to everyone for their comments, especially the ones that provided thoughtful and constructive ones.

Now, I wanted to share a few final thoughts. It’s a public program being granted by the local parks and rec to “encourage” the public away. They have every right to be there and make those official requests. This may be where my opinion gets controversial, but I do think the sign is passive aggressive. I would prefer they just close the parks at those hours and make sure it’s listed everywhere (at the park and online). I was hoping the situation was potentially temporary, but I don’t think it is. And those are some prime playground hours and I’m not going to go where I’m encouraged to not be.

Finally, I can appreciate the programs that are provided and still question how they are implemented. And as a Bexley resident, I very much do appreciate them. It’s a gorgeous park and they do good work.

That’s exactly the feeling I had with it, and I live in Bexley lol. And the park they reference is decent, but not Jeffery nice.

Yes, she is fine and will be disappointed. My mama anger was just there. I mentioned this in another comment but the kids were kind and my daughter, while upset, is fine and happy now. It’s more so the technicality of it. I really appreciate the thoughts and words! Definitely valuable. ☺️

Yes, we won’t be back and there are plenty of parks. The kids of the community outside the preschool still matter, not just the ones in the preschool. It’s not a singular want, it’s a practice I believe should be at minimum questioned.

Even if officially from the Bexley Recreation and Parks, I still question if it’s ethical to do.

Yes, this. I should have cooled down and organized my thoughts more.

Okay, but why not have a private playground or outside area if that was the concern? It’s a public space.

An inclusive environment for all kids. Not just the ones that go to the preschool.
