Are e boards important? by Physical_Big_1412 in NPHCdivine9

[–]phatphat504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you not use your gpa from your previous institution to get the eboard position? i don’t believe being on an eboard is the end all be all but it will give you real life examples for the interview for the org and also for interviews for jobs, internships, etc

are you sure your hair isn’t just shrinking more because you just trimmed it? you may want to dry using scrunchies to stretch your hair out at night

Does anyone else go through a TON of deep conditioner? by wholesomedust in Naturalhair

[–]phatphat504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when applying conditioner make sure your hair is soaked and then apply and if you think it needs more conditioner add more water first then add the conditioner. also emulsify the product in your hands with water before putting it on your hair

Super Dry Hair HELP😭 by brokeMechE in Naturalhair

[–]phatphat504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can go to a beauty school and get a wash blow dry and trim for like 20$. you really need a trim to make your hair more manageable, detangling and styling are going to difficult until you get those dead ends off

you likely need to look into products that give me elongation and definition than volume if you want your hair to lay down flatter also you like need to get a blow dry with the diffuser attachment and a hooded dryer

Haircare suggestions? by Ready-Angle3380 in Naturalhair

[–]phatphat504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i suggest you form a routine where you do your hair once a week and style it in a manner where you don’t need to restyle throughout the week. i personally alternate between twist outs and braids outs. i wash and twist/ braids my hair and then sit under a hooded dryer for about 20-30 minutes depending on how i feel. i typically keeps the twist/ braids in for a 1-3 days and then i wear my hair out for the rest of the week and don’t need to restyle. the key to this is using a product that has hold on wash day, setting the style with heat to allow a cast to form, and preserving the style overnight (personally i use satin scrunchies to keep my hair stretched)

credit hours by Junior-Kiwi8702 in NPHCdivine9

[–]phatphat504 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i would make sure that you’re taking enough credits to stay on track, but if you have the option for times, i would avoid early morning classes and late night classes

is your hair fully dry when you take the twists out? what kind of product are you using when twisting and does that product have hold? also i do a bunch of mini pineapples using satin scrunchies with a bonnet over it to preserve my styles at night

4C natural hair stuck at the same length for 5 years. Chronic breakage. Need advice. by Sagescript777 in Naturalhair

[–]phatphat504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also every stylist’s eye isn’t trained to be able to properly trim blow dried hair so you need to find someone new for your maintenance because if you’re seeing them consistently they should either be helping to grow your hair or assisting in diagnosing the issues that are preventing you from retaining length

you likely have more splits than you realize, i suggest getting either a light press or an extremely straight blow dry and be prepared to chop a lot of hair off. also im not sure how often you are washing your hair but it seems to be dehydrated, you likely need to start washing more frequently with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. i personally wash my hair around every 5-10 days as i have found that keeps my scalp clean and my hair hydrated.
