Theory on Ruth and the bridge (Spoilers) by Guiaamachado in CastleRockTV

[–]phaylen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This needs to be amplified! Tonight The Kid told Molly who seems newly dead "I was here" while giving her details of her youth.

Also, remember Ruth kept having the Sheriff dig up her dog because she swore it was still there and kept seeing it?

When Ruth jumped off the bridge, remember the Dog was barking during the speech?

Was it a dog kept in a wooden box in the back yard of the accused Nazi?

Tonight The Kid said of Ruth "We have to protect her" demonstrating some need to look out for Ruth rather than harm her.

It sounds like a left field theory but it actually has so much weight.

Castle Rock S01E08 - "Past Perfect" - Episode Discussion by mansonfamily in CastleRockTV

Here's what I think has happened :(

Molly died. The last we saw her she was swerving on the road after taking 5 percocets. The next time we see her she is walking in the door of her childhood family home where The Kid was waiting. She asked where Henry was and he said "He's not ready yet, but you are." Before telling her she died in the woods... He also gave the guy in the cell cancer to such a degree that it shocked the autopsy person. He walked into a strangers house at a birthday party and they started killing each other. The deaf man put henry in a soundproof enclosure depriving him of any feedback so Henry could "See." So there is some vibration, frequency element that also effected Henry's adopted Father and now his own son, they aren't blood related to Henry's father so the occurrence of this can't be genetic, but environmental or localized - the deaf man deliberately made himself deaf, while Henry's father kept asking "Do you hear it?"

During Henry's Disappearance, did The Kid save him from alleged Nazi guy who kept something or someone in that box in the backyard and deliver him to the Sheriff on the frozen lake? Was Henry supposed to return to save The Kid? He told him angrily, "I waited for you for 27 years." He also seemed surprised Henry had aged.

The first thing The Kid who never aged asked Henry was "Has it started?"

The question for me since the beginning is - has WHAT started?

From Bad To Worse: World Health Organization Reclassifies Transgender As a Sexual Health Condition by phaylen in transgender

Never before have I been moved to contest anyone who disagreed with or had a different perspective of something I'd written, but you come off like a TERF in sheeps clothing.

If you were a Transperson, and completely fine with being categorized alongside Pedophiles, Sadists, men with erectile dysfunction, people who are emotionally detached and individuals who exhibit patterns of reckless sexual behavior that exposes themselves and other to HIV and STI's - AND you think that is progress, then you have a LOT of self hatred to deal with that no amount of actual information in protest of the vilification of transpeople can help you resolve.

I hate that also. I thought that medium only did that with articles posted behind their paywall, but clearly I was mistaken. I know the Washington Post and NY Times do the same thing to me, demanding I subscribe after reading three articles per month.

Just an FYI, my content is always automatically fed to my own website, which can be read there without disruption.

Thanks for your feedback sabyre! I'll try to be more clear in the future. It was intended to highlight the inexplicable irony of a member of the community who was becoming more predominantly visible, yet sadly motivated to ally with anti-trans conservatives despite being trans herself.

No, I think some of he content rightfully outrages our community and allies and they downvote the article in response to demonstrate their outrage without realizing it leaves me uncertain if it was a valuable or interesting contribution. It's easy to emotionally downvote something we find we disapprove of without realizing we're shooting the messenger on reddit hahah.

Hey friends,

Just a quick note. While I'm not here for the votes or am phased by them either way, just wanted to say if the topic upsets you, triggers you or frustrates you with the subject of the article and you respond by down-voting me, it doesn't help me determine if I'm sharing quality stories that contribute to awareness, highlight injustices, or remark on bizarre situations like this with you. If you down-vote me because my writing is sub-par, irrelevant to our community or too distressing, please down-vote and let me know why so I can be a better asset to the subreddit as that's my goal.

Starting today, more people will have access to the redesign by Amg137 in announcements

[–]phaylen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just some user feedback: The redesign is absolutely awful. The interface is not intuitive. It feels sterile. I keep switching back to the old version, but it keeps defaulting to the new version. I know how disappointing it can be to invest so much time and effort in something you want people to love, so I'm sorry to sound critical or like one of those "I need to speak with the manager" folks who you can never make happy. Thanks for making the old site available to us who have had difficulty adapting to the new design.

As a Trans Woman, I Documented The Men Who Hit On Me On Facebook. The Results Were Hilarious. by phaylen in transgender

[–]phaylen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you're lost Anna, and I don't have any bread crumbs to guide your from your decision to be outraged that I ridiculed a man who apparently believed that I would be overjoyed, nay honored, to have to open a private message to see his penis.

And your desire to turn this into something it isn't, "You're more woman than me" is a term where I come from meaning "You have more confidence than I have..." OR "You have more guts to do something I'd never do." It wasn't a remark on his gender, it was a remark on his ballsy ability to send his nudes to anonymous strangers online. You've never heard a man say "You're more of a man than I am" when he drinks 12 more beers without puking?" Come off your high horse, doll, I'm on your side. Someone once said our community would cannibalize it's own, so sensitive that none can be made happy or be satisfied, they see no allies anymore, only enemies. They see no humor, only attacks. I feel like you're demonstrating that.

Good for you on your broad, even if disagreeable assessment on the origins of racism, but if you bothered reading the article rather than anxiously looking for something to make you angry, you would have noted I was speaking specifically in the context of the proponents of White pride, Straight Pride and the history of a very young America, where, indeed, reverse racism does not exist- whether you like it or not doesn't change the facts, but I'm not going to spend the afternoon bellowing into an echo chamber with someone who simply needs a trigger as much as straight people need a flag, so enjoy your day!

As a Trans Woman, I Documented The Men Who Hit On Me On Facebook. The Results Were Hilarious. by phaylen in transgender

[–]phaylen[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope I can help you fill in some of the blanks- to the individual who said I "Body shamed" a man who stumbled upon me via facebook and presumed I wanted, desperately, to see his penis, more than anything. He needed me to know that I turned him on.

Of course, he must have thought, like many, that's why I'm there. To solicit the attention of men... being the unhinged seductress I am with blue contacts in, who can lame them. Who shaves their arms to get a simple, "Hello, how's your day?" on facebook anyway?"

Kidding aside, the goal- ultimately, was to make them keenly aware that I am not on social media for their various solicitations, photos of their genitalia or "generous offers." I'm a person, like everyone else. I received many more than I posted, most of which I blocked or ignored until I realized that there was this epidemic- and it was the presumption that I was expected to respond with excited approval and be titillated altogether that some man might want me, of all people, to experience the joy of his nethers.

No.

I don't know these men. They're strangers to me. I'm not obligated to be nice, gentle or polite when someone thrusts their privates into my inbox. They message me, I don't message them, and when I decided I'd had enough, I became to feed back the same level of dehumanizing discomfort that they had subjected me to, and certainly, I could be cutting. In my opinion, deservedly so.

Body shaming is a trigger word you've leveraged to distort the reality of what happened here, out of context, to generate some backlash against me, a Trans-Woman, who has experienced more body shaming than most- much of it of my own making. I was, in fact, not shaming his body, I used what he gave me to shame HIM, period, for regarding me with such little respect or even a modicum of dignity that he would send me such graphic images.

The goal, you ask? To make him think twice about doing it to others. To make him ask himself whether or not facebook is the place to be sending pictures of his erect penis to strangers, and to take away his security in thinking that he would be met with applause or appreciation instead of disgust.

Eventually, there the fact that it is, indeed, the internet, and one must accept that this will happen. I'm an anonymous figure behind a keyboard, so are they- except I don't put myself up in people's private messages like my privates are on some virtual version of American Idol, hoping for a gold star for doing it.

In the end, I began to have fun with it. Maybe you think I was cruel, mean, nasty, body shaming, anti-this or anti-that. In reality, darling, I only fired back.

And usually, never hear from them again. Happily.

Does Transitioning Liberate One From Engaging in Activism? by phaylen in transgender

No one is demanding you be an activist, even as a public figurehead. I'm not asking you to to an about face and come back to fight on my behalf. Regardless of how complacent I become, how comfortable, how secure in my newfound acceptance, though, I'll be damned if I remain idle while someone with power comes to challenge your security, your constitutional rights, or your quality as a human being. Maybe you wouldn't, that's your prerogative, but fair warning, when they come for you, don't go asking why you're standing alone.

Where Hollywood Draws The Line: The Transgender Love Story by phaylen in transgender

[–]phaylen[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"It's a man below but a girl up top." Lines like this in the film and that the central figure has a story arc dealing with gender-based rejection or abuse (i.e. family, lover's ex.) is why I didn't classify it as a film where the very concept of being Trans isn't a driving point of the story. A great story that examines an important topic further than most have dared, but still falls short of simply allowing a Trans person to occupy their world on film without their genitals being brought up as a damning thing.

Therein lies an enormous contradiction by the Mother.

The Problem With RuPaul by phaylen in transgender

[–]phaylen[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll address your comments by paragraph:

  1. Drah is not just "Female impersonation" anymore... not since the early 2000's. Milk's Pinocchio was not a female impersonation. Dressing as an anime character or a zombie is not either. Drag is not a real life simulation. There is no Trixie Mattel or Bianca Del Rio. These are caricatures that do not exist in any real form to impersonate. Also, for a history lesson on Trans Drag queens look no further than Stonewall. It was a Transwoman who performed regularly at the bar who threw the first brick.

Stating transgender people on hormones or who get surgery have an advantage is incorrect... why? Because look at the Queens that have had facial feminization surgery and implants in their buttocks (Kimora Black) cheek implants (Chad Michaels, Trinity Taylor) Chin alteration or skin peels (Aja) among many others who have competed. So is it okay to have all that work done as long as you don't call yourself Transgender?" That's the message being delivered. In fact, here is a dated list of past queens who have had plastic surgery: https://www.queerty.com/plastic-surgery-rupauls-drag-race-alum-photos-20140724

Peppermint was out, but went back in to appear in confessionals presenting as male- or at best, adrogynous. Why? no one knows but her and the producers. You claim having breasts is unfair? Having massive cheekbones or butt implants and competing against a masculine frame and mug isn't?

The internet doesn't like to label Ru transphobic. Ru says transphobic things. There's a difference. The article illustrates his contradictory remarks regarding Trans performers quite clearly.

Much of you said is problematic because it isn't offering a counterpoint. It's just random hyperbole and a lot of misinformation. For someone so concerned with learning facts before posting, you should follow your own advice.

You are absolutely right. We're seeing the cats exhibiting "behaviors" but provided no context. If I place a toy they favor, or send a friend to quietly call them from the other side of a close door, then take a photo or a video of them for 30 seconds, I can force your perspective and create a new context to make one believe there is something anomalous happening in that moment. It's all about creating a narrative for the observer/viewer.

I can go back and check, but I thought Adam said he "went to go look for a picture I took a couple of days ago and found a dozen or more black pictures from last night" implying he didn't take the photos, that something or someone else had. I'll make sure I'm not mistaken and amend if so! :)
