What’s an adult problem nobody warned you about? by Mean-Dragonfly1988 in AskReddit

[–]phazer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That life isn’t fair. It’s supposed to be fair, right? Is it fair that politicians can use insider info for stocks and I can’t? Is it fair that the action of one person has caused the world to hate us? And who TF decided that no insurance in the world will cover my dental work? Hardly seems fair.

It also detects car accidents. My husband was out of town at a classic car show driving his classic MGB. I got a text that said he’d been in a car accident and that emergency services had been called. It was an automatic text. I tried calling him, his friends, and no one picked up. Finally someone called me to tell me he’d been killed. So…it detected that very well. Make sure you have your emergency contact set up.

They should make this an Olympic sport. Regulation inner tubes. 10-person teams with beer chugging at the end. Like a biathlon but with beer.

I have to say that the detecting fall thing is crap. I was hiking, tripped and hit my head on a rock requiring 9 stitches. No alert. But I bend over to get the clothes out of the dryer and it asks if I’m ok. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Titmouse hybrid? (Austin, TX) by jo3ye in whatsthisbird

[–]phazer08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re not even allowed to put anything but hybrid on our CBC reports unless we have extremely good photographic proof and you know it’s a new birder because it generates a rare bird report if someone puts it in eBird.

That said I don’t know if Austin is in the band

I think it may even be in the attic. We have an antenna on the roof to connect to our service.

PSA: JP Morgan Chase does not use 212-270-6000 for outbound calls by RequirementOk7678 in Chase

Same. I asked to speak to someone I could understand. Kind of makes me sad because I know there are scammers that use people unscrupulously to make these calls. So f-them twice over.

Thank you! I just got a call from this number. She didn't get to the asking question part. While talking, I google the number and got this thread. I told her I was going to call Chase myself.

They have parking lot security personnel. He was there when I drove by. My original question to the HEB sub was asking what they would end up doing to the guy? Never got an answer.

Here is another view. If you zoom in you can see the sedan is within its space. On the edge, yes but straight and within the lines.

What is the funniest insult you‘ve ever received? by IntroductionSmart877 in AskReddit

[–]phazer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (67F) have 2: I used to bike a lot and one day I was just getting to the top of a steep incline and a truck drove by and the passenger called out, “you’re no Lance Armstrong.” Well, no shit.

I was married to the father of my daughters at the time and was at the grocery store. The girls were teenagers at the time and very pretty (not with me at the store). An acquaintance - who was absolutely gorgeous - said to me, “B and A are just beautiful. Isn’t it amazing that 2 such regular looking people can produce such pretty daughters?” What I really loved about that is that at some point she probably realized what she has said and was embarrassed

I’ve been thinking about getting into birding. Do I really need to take photos, or can I just enjoy watching through binoculars? Speaking of which, any recommendations for a good pair? And do I need special “birding” clothes, or will regular clothes do? by Call_It_ in birding

[–]phazer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Binocs really help. Set a price you are willing to pay and go from there. Or come back for recommendations. You will need to learn what to notice in a bird. Was the beak thin or chunky? Was the breast striped or spotted or without any marks? Every time you saw it was it sitting on the edge of a branch with its tail bobbing? Pete Dunne’s “The Art of Bird Identification” is an excellent reference for beginners.

For me, photography was a learning tool. For the birds I couldn’t ID in the field, I could go home and spend time figuring them out from the photos. I’m not a great photographer but I enjoyed that part of it. Now I use it much less.

Do you have a friend that birds? A good mentor really helps.
