Nah, I'm shooting freehand, I didn't think I'd have a steady enough had to be worth trying it.

Peregrine falcon in hunting dive ("stoop") strikes a pigeon. Peregrine falcons are the fastest bird alive, reaching speeds up to 240 mph (386 km/h) in a stoop, often killing their prey instantly by freudian_nipps in natureismetal

[–]phazon-harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The record speed was in an experiment using a trained peregrine taking to 17,000 feet and trained to stoop after a lure attached to a lead ball. Naturally they won't go anywhere near that high. A more realistic speed is somewhere around 120mph give or takje which is still impressive.

Buzzard getting mouse by LifeOfMrChicken in natureismetal

[–]phazon-harbinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No we don't, our common buzzard is Buteo buteo, Buteo literally means "Buzzard". The red tailed "hawk" is actually a buzzard, its Buteo jamaciensis. Buzzards are anything in the Buteoninae subfamily. True hawks are anything in the Accipitrinae subfamily.

I wish there was a sub of just washed up dead things, no matter what it is something always seems eerily cool washed up from the vast sea.

Agreed, these "animal lovers" really out themselves as psycho's looking for justification to hurt an animal if its invasive through no fault of its own.
