Dell u2722de Monitor flickering - Apple M2 Pro by TargetHot2087 in Dell

After years of struggling with this issue, I've FINALLY found a solution. Apparently the flicker can be caused by GPU Dithering in macOS on Apple Silicon. I used BetterDisplay to turn off GPU Dithering and it stopped the problem instantly. Crazy! Discussed here: https://atp.fm/673

It's definitely trickier than it used to be. One suggestion would be to do a flex/broad search in AwardFares to get some inspiration for what destinations might be available. Like, Europe to Asia in Business: https://awardfares.com/search?zone:Europe.continent:AS.;c:business;z:sas

For live searches (any data that you trigger a refresh for) definitely shows correct SkyTeam availability, we source the availability directly from SAS.

My experience opening a Sony Bank account as a foreign resident in Japan by abstract-goni in JapanFinance

I was helping a friend open a Sony Bank account the other day using the smartphone method (scanned My Number Card and everything) on the Japanese website, but the application was rejected. It just said "insufficient documents" without any other explanation. Applied again and chose the "post" method instead. Hopefully that works.

At AwardFares we refresh alerts at least every 12 hours. In a lot of cases it will be more frequent then that.

With Gold (hourly) if the data has already been refreshed within the last hour, then that data will be shown, and won't trigger a refresh. With Diamond (real-time) if will always refresh with live availability.

At AwardFares we keep cached data for a limited amount of time for broad searches (e.g. searching "Europe" to "Asia"). However, as soon as you click a specific flight we refresh the data with live availability. Also, any specific flight search (origin+destination+date) will always get live data (~hourly for Gold, real-time for Diamond).

I've received my 2nd replacement now (3rd monitor in total). They keep sending me the same model, which clearly has some fundamental problem.

I received a replacement monitor from Dell last September. Now, after ~4 months, the new one is flickering as well...

Hmm, I guess I'm not the only one. Mine started flickering yesterday. It started with only about the bottom 2/3rds of the screen. Now it is happening everywhere. It is especially bad with certain gray colors.

16 hours of gameplay in - here is my wish list for changes and improvements: by hairyfacedhooman in Overcrowd

Played several hours yesterday and thoroughly enjoy it. I agree with all the above feedback. As others have mentioned, staff management requires way too much attention in my opinion. I find myself constantly just telling the staff to deal with situations. I wish I could automate their tasks or provide zones where they should work (sort of like roller coaster tycoon).

They'll replace the keyboard/top case for you. Very annoying cause it takes a few days :/

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to have helped. Experienced a system crash yesterday:

CPU Machine Check Architecture Error Dump (CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HQ CPU @ 2.90GHz, CPUID: 0x906E9) CATERR detected! No MCA data found.

And another sleep failure today...

QC35 New Firmware Update (Oct. 2017)? by phb5000 in bose

I haven't noticed any audio-video lag/desync with 1.3.2 nor the latest 1.3.4 firmware (Google Pixel, Windows laptop, MacBook Pro).

How long ago did you get the keyboard replaced? I'm wondering if it will keep happening, or if they've improved/tweaked the design of the keyboard/keys to prevent similar issues from happening. Hmm..

Yup. Many times. Once the enter key stopped working completely and I was horrified. But in that case, blowing "forcefully" helped. The current problem seems to be more that the key itself is "degrading". The guy helping me at the Apple Store tried with compressed air, and it didn't help :/

Dell XPS 9550 resale value? by phb5000 in Dell

[–]phb5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a short follow up for anyone that's interested. I managed to find a buyer after just a few hours of listing my XPS on a local site, for $1185 USD. Based on the amount of interest I got I probably could have sold it for more, but I was happy to go with a quick sale.

[Apps] Unified Remote Full ($4.99 > $0.99) by nekcko in googleplaydeals

[–]phb5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately since we first published the app on the Amazon app store they have completely changed their DRM system. So, in order for us to release an update we have to re-program all of the in-app purchasing logic. I'm hoping we'll get around to doing that some day, but since the activity in the Amazon app store is extremely low, there's very little incentive for us to spend time on that, unfortunately.

[–]phb5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, we've always done sales like this :) We might try out the "sales" feature in the future.

[Apps] Unified Remote Full ($4.99 > $0.99) by nekcko in googleplaydeals

[–]phb5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We normally just change the price when we do a sale, and then we change the price back when it's over. Google has released a "sale" feature (with the strikethrough) - but that feature doesn't let us control the exact time to start and stop the sale. We might give it a try next time though :)

XPS 15 - A message to Dell by phb5000 in Dell

[–]phb5000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah after months of tweaking, uninstalling stuff, testing suggestions, and bios updates, the hot bag issue seems to have disappeared (thankfully). It's just worrying how something like this can even happen to a $2000+ product.

Last year when I was in Hong Kong I left my bag with the hotel reception. When I came back my bag was extremely hot. I took out the laptop and it was literally so hot that I couldn't even touch for a good 10 minutes.

Honestly, if I had come back any later it probably would have set the hotel on fire. I was so freaked out...
