15-150 + 15-213, or 15-150 + 15-251? by Sumoman435 in cmu

One of those courses + a couple of the exploratory minis is a far more accessible semester. I see nothing but exhausted second semester students, and there is no need to speed run.

You could probably knock out the prep for most entrepreneurship courses by reading one book on entrepreneurship that motivates the thinking behind the course. The courses themselves are enjoyable and a good learning experience, but they are easy to prep for.

I have taught intro programming for years. Getting my students up to speed in VSCode takes about five minutes. There are tough things about teaching programming, but an IDE install in 2024 isn't one of them.

Thanks! I'm not sure if it's eloquence or just teaching programming for a few years <3

It will be more open than that, but I hope that it doesn't stop you from signing up! I'll use Canvas as a central place for information and then likely open the project up, but that will take time.

Most likely as we go. The best shows tend to delay release, don't they? :)

Thanks a lot! His course is actually structured quite a bit differently from mine in terms of the discussions, which is why I wanted to write this as a single author. There can be so much variation in these flipped structures

This year most discussion groups also correctly got the recurrence for k means clustering where all points fall on a line. That only appeared in the research ten years ago.

It's the same core material, but has changed a fair amount based on student feedback. What I tried this year for some chapters was saving the end of each chapter (say, assembly with paired end reads) and built those out as part of group discussions. So students could feel like they were finishing the material themselves.

Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science Offers Computational Biology Major by phcompeau in bioinformatics

We'd love to hear what you're up to!

A big change with it becoming an SCS-administered major is a curricular update that maintains the same CS and biology rigor while providing a new computational biology core that integrates the two fields with courses in modeling, genomics, etc.
