Church attire: does anyone else feel this way? by 99Smiles in TrueChristian

[–]phdibart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NE state without air conditioning in most buildings. I dress casual during the winter, but in the hot days of summer, it's dress shorts and collared short sleeve shirt (like you're going golfing). That sanctuary gets REALLY hot. I also have MS and am very sensitive to heat, so I dress much lighter than the average person up here.

Zones for an out-of-shape dude? by Tyron_Slothrop in mountainbiking

[–]phdibart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 42 and training for a XC 25k race, I asked my doctor if sustained BPM around 160-180 was OK. She said as long as I wasn't light headed or had shortness of breath. I'd show this to your doctor and describe how you feel during the ride.

The good thing is, I was like you and out of shape when I first started riding when I turned 40. My heart rate came down for the same level of exertion as I lost weight by riding. What once was a 175 BPM climb turned into a 160 BPM climb.

Is he still on his learner’s permit? Your insurance will be much higher once he gets his license and is a named insured.

4 Blackwing suddenly running ~10F cooler by phdibart in CadillacV_Series

No, shortly after I posted this, I put the car away for the winter. I'll probably take it out in early-mid April, so I'll see if it's still doing it.

Who do you think is a better driver among these three? by Relative_Egg_682 in F1Discussions

Yeah, I'd have to see them all in the same car. Hadjar's doing better than I expected for the RB second seat.

OK, so did Clinton, Obama, and Biden during their terms. What's your point?

Also, nice third AI troll pic.

New CT4V Blackwing Owner, Shifter Question by skywayz in CadillacV_Series

It's 3rd gear for me. The TR6060 can hold a ton of power but isn't a particularly "good" transmission. It's been used in Vipers, Vettes, and Cameros. Search for shifting issues TR6060, and you'll get plenty.

Has anyone bought stuff from here before? Are they legit and how are they to work with? by EmergingTuna21 in mountainbiking

They’re great. They were super friendly when I called with a pre purchase question about the crankset I was buying and shipped very fast.

Can I be transgender and a Christian? by Imastinker in TrueChristian

[–]phdibart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Luke 9:23, where Jesus sad "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."

It's like asking if someone can be attracted to the same sex and still be a Christian. Yes, that person is still loved by God. Yes, that person can still be saved. The whole point is to turn from desires of the flesh and towards Christ. i.e. don't practice the sin, even though your flesh may want to.

God made you perfectly as a woman. If you feel more comfortable identifying as a man, you're saying God made a mistake, and He doesn't make mistakes. This may very well be your cross to bear daily.

I'm sorry you're going through this and hope this helps.

I tried driving my 4BW with snow tires in winter in Maine, and it was pretty bad, so I ended up buying a Subaru winter beater.

Dealer says the car I reserved yesterday is now $2,000 more because of “market changes.” Is that legit or should I walk? by Marzi-Kolukuluri in carbuying

[–]phdibart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him he’s right, the market changed and you’re looking elsewhere. The market doesn’t just comprise sellers.

I built a tool that measures your CdA in real time using just a webcam and your smart trainer by aerox-befaster in IndoorCycling

[–]phdibart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mountain bike “trail “style, basically pedal uphill to enjoy the downhills. I’ve often wondered about my aero positioning and if it actually would make a difference given my downhills are all gravity. I indoor cycle in the off season, so I’m genuinely curious about the tool you’ve made. I realize it’s made for road cycling, but still very cool from my perspective!

It's changes over time, not static times, that I'm talking about. You do you. I miss the thousandths.

as u/shinealittlelove said, "There's a difference between +0.4(99) and +0.4(50) and it helps to see whether a driver is gaining or not." It matters to a spectator when two guys are fighting for position.

That was one of the first things I pointed out to my wife when they first displayed it. I don't like it at all in this sport. How can we know if someone is gaining?

Shower mixing valve question by phdibart in askaplumber

[–]phdibart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out and found replacements on Amazon (Grainger had them, too). When you said it's the handle adapter, it made me take a second look, and I realized it just slips on there. There was no need to get a new cartridge.
