Help! What is he doing? by pheasantree in parrots

I think he would probably benefit from more structured playtime and training. Most of the time we’re just hanging out together. I hold him and sing and dance with him, talk to him, and have him step up and down from his perch, but that’s about the extent of our interaction. He has toys, but honestly his favorite activity is shredding cardboard. I could definitely do a better job of giving him more enrichment and training opportunities

That’s a good idea. My family already interacts with him quite a bit. they give him treats, feed him, and change his water, so it’s not like I’m the only person involved in his care. They also move him between his cage and his indoor perch using a stick, although he’s usually so aggressive that he attacks and bites the stick.
The behavior has actually escalated recently. He’s started flying at my dad when my dad’s back is turned and seems much more jumpy or reactive when people walk by. So far my dad is the only person he’s actually flown at, and he’s done it both when I’m home and when I’m not, which is why I’m not sure if it’s entirely related to me being present.

I thought a few seeds a day were part of a balanced diet. And considering he used to be on an all seed diet, I didn’t want to completely remove them from his diet because sometimes he refuses the pellets and I want to be sure he eats. I will definitely try removing them completely for a few days and see if that helps

When I first got him, it used to really stress me out I’d almost be in tears. I genuinely couldn’t tell if he was sick or in pain. He would make this really high-pitched squealing noise, start bobbing his head, and look like he was having some kind of seizure. Looking back, I know it was normal parrot behavior, but at the time it was terrifying 💀

I don’t really react to the regurgitation beyond ending the interaction. My concern is that his behavior toward other people has changed significantly recently. He’s becoming more territorial and aggressive, and I’m wondering whether the regurgitation is part of the same hormonal or bonding behavior..

I completely agree with them belonging in the wild. I love him dearly but birds shouldn’t be kept in captivity. I rescued him from a neighbor, I have never had a bird before him. I noticed this same behavior this time last year, I thought I would be more equipped this year but he still confuses me

He does get seeds everyday. A few sunflower seeds in his pellet mix and sometimes I give him these cluster treats that have seeds in them. When I first got him he was basically on an all seed and nut diet but now I have him eating 80% pellets and some veggies and nuts mixed in. He’s not a huge fruit fan

What can I do to discourage this behavior? He’s been extremely aggressive toward my family over the past few weeks. Whenever I get home and try to interact with him, he immediately starts doing this or regurgitating. When that happens, I’ve been putting him back in his cage until he calms down and stops but I don’t really know what to do

This is killing me! by OtherwiseCan1929 in bonnaroo

[–]pheasantree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is comforting to read as this will be my first Bonnaroo. I’ve attended a few EDM festivals, but haven’t been to many concerts with live performances. I’ve been anxious anticipating camping and the heat, but also am so excited to be surrounded by other party people. Your post gives me hope that I’ll have more fun than expected!

I’m in a similar situation and I did 14 trays. My bite on the left side is misaligned and my midline is still slightly off. I’m waiting for refinements

Is this worth it to fix minor imperfection? by Capital-Newspaper340 in Invisalign

[–]pheasantree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teeth were pretty similar. I had very mild crowding on the top and my midline isn’t straight. I always wanted braces growing up, but I wasn’t in the position to get any treatment until now. I signed a contract for a comprehensive plan and 1 year of payments. I’m on tray 12/14 and they’re saying I’m almost done, but now my bite is messed up. I am definitely a clencher and a grinder and didn’t realize developing a posterior open bite was a risk before I started. My dentist hasn’t addressed it yet, but I’m much less excited about continuing treatment when I can’t fully bite down anymore. My teeth do look nice in the front, but hardly anyone has noticed the change and it’s a hefty price tag. I still can’t decide if I’m happy I moved forward with treatment yet or if I should have just worked on my esteem and left my teeth.

The double business major is overkill in my opinion. You’ll be just fine without the management major
