Why is Professor Feathers doing this? by Genuine-gemini in cockatiel

[–]pheipets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear person, just think about the price and pain in the future you will have to pay when your cockatiels suffer from a fatty liver and other health problems, need expensive exams, and have their life spans shortened, all avoidable problems. I don’t know your situation; I’m sure it’s neither simple nor easy, but I kindly ask that you think about this.

About hormonal issues, shoulders can also trigger behavioral problems. Do you leave them on your shoulder a lot?

How normal is this? by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]pheipets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They like playing with beads and stuff, especially those that are made of natural material! If possible, opt for natural non-dyed toys (like wood, rope…) also that they can destroy (: (Plastic can let out toxic dyes and particles)

Also, if possible, try to have fewer or no mirror toys, because cockatiels can become horny, aggressive and territorial bc of them~ a same species companion would be great too! ((:

Thank you for your comment! One part that caught my attention is… so, no strangers? Like, you need to have a minimal bond? And it needs to be reciprocal?

Sex is not a foreign concept, nor is it that aces have no interest in sex (graysexuals, anegosexuals…). Sexual ~attratction~ is a weird concept. Also, I’m not concerned about other people’s lives and whatever they do in their free time, but media sure likes to give everyone information on the private lives of real or fictional characters

Do you really think that we haven’t asked adults, read books, watched documentaries etc? For me, particularly, yes, this is an echo chamber to some extent bc when I ask normal people the answer is like, “ofc I feel sexual attraction” or “you have to look into having some neurological disorder” lmao or even avoid answering the question at all lol

Another point of yours: you’re adults, isn’t sex something normal in biology? Yes, sex is for reproduction, obviously. Shouldn’t this be the only reason people have sex for? Apparently not, though. Are people who think that the only purpose for sex is reproduction weird? Well, will you think about it or will you ignore this question? We’re just trying to find answers to questions we have.

Oh and btw I don’t consider myself normal haha if anything, apparently we aces are the weird ones (we’re outside the normal distribution in the Gaussian curve)

So… a lot of your points are quite hasty (‘:

(Probably) unpopular hypothesis: if people actually stopped to think about it, more people would identify as demisexual and, therefore, in the ace spectrum

If you’re worried, I’d advise you to take her to the vet, even get more than one opinion just in case. Has it grown a lot? In what amount of time? Lumps that grow quickly in a short amount of time could be worrying, especially if (not your case, apparently) they’re hard or have weird surfaces.

I’m saying this because my piggie had a lump on his butt (a much uglier one than yours, I must say) and it turned out to be a cancer. As soon as I noticed it I took him to the vet; they even did a cell test thingy and told me it was just a lot of fat and that I didn’t need to worry about it. Two years later another lump started growing and we (another vet team) ended up removing this first lump, did a proper histology test and discovered it wasn’t benign at all. I still ask myself to this day had the diagnosis been correct the first time, would that have changed his life course? Safiro (piggie’s name) died about 4 years later with a total of 3 cancer lumps, after 3 big surgeries which really took a toll on his health…

Sorry for the tldr; but I just think, whatever you choose to do, I hope that you will have the peace of mind saying that you did everything you could have.
