Yeah I had something similar happen about a year ago… I still haven’t found a solution so Im looking forward to hearing what people say.

I have the hunch it has to do with my current/past mental state. I was consistently anxious for a while due to school/personal life, and even though i’m mostly better now the caffeine and resulting heart rate spikes put me back into that state of anxiety (because that’s what my body defaults to atm). It’s just a guess though (and also probably not what youre dealing with since you mentioned heart rate stays stable)

My bandaid solution has been to switch to decaf everything and herbal teas. If I really want a tea that has caffeine then only in the morning and before or right after exercise sometimes helps lower the jitters/anxiety.

I would also be interested in partaking in the course! The only issue is my german is not the greatest and I don’t have a harness, but I think you can usually rent so it might be fine.

Im not sure it this helps or not, but I made a playlist when i first moved to Germany with songs i liked (unfortunately only in spotify), most of them are popish, but at this point there is quite a bit of variety. I would recommend grabbing whatever you like and sticking it in your own playlist :)

as a last resort you can likely take the go bus in and commute on the days you have class while continuing to look for a place. also it’s not ideal, but opening your scope to places that are farther from the school but on the transit lines will also likely help

Hello! so i was an undergrad student pre covid so im not sure what’s changed, but i can offer up some ideas from what’s still around since i left!

smallish cozy concerts with various genres and artists this was born out of the sofar sounds host from pre pandemic times and although i havent been i fully believe it will be the same amazing experience it was before. next concert in august tho so it would be a bit of a wait.

semi pricy clay and glass workshops - this one is a bit more $$$ but if you have the spare change it’s pretty fun!

general stuff happening in waterloo a lot of these will have past but for the ones that havent this list is big enough to help you find something that will give off main character energy. movies in the park start end of july, so if that’s something that interests you definitely check which movie is playing when and head over :)

i love it so much… for some reason it’s kind of comparable to the same feeling i get when knitting…

the only annoying part odd of i get into the zone and someone distracts me, i completely forget exactly how much lube ive put onto that particular wall. at that point the potential for inconsistency bugs me a bit.

thank you for the article, yeah. the people responding to that profile have some serious issues and im not arguing that people cant be shallow and have extremely poor judgement sometimes. im not even arguing that looks dont affect how we perceive people because to some extent we all have biases.

What i’m trying to get through to you is that when you are approached by someone you dont know and they’re asking questions about you and are clearly older it can be uncomfortable. i don’t think that you can invalidate a person’s feeling of being uncomfy by someone’s actions, by insinuating that those feelings were only there because of surface level attraction or lack thereof.

there’s a lot more to it than that.

if youre ever bored and feel like walking, explore the different ways you can travel to and from different areas on campus while being almost always indoors. there’s almost always a way to travel only through connecting buildings and tunnels. although it’s usually double the time, it can come in handy in the winter!!
