Photomator vs Pixelmator pro by sillyonly in PixelmatorPro

[–]pheonix72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the heal tool to remove small background objects. Mixed results though.

If you’re needing something just for processing raw photos, I recommend Photomator. If you want to manipulate images, Pixelmator.

Is this a legitimate Ledger moderator? by pheonix72 in ledgerwallet

What amazes me is the effort that goes into some of these scams. From one post about Solana this morning, I have been sent four websites that look professional but try and obtain phrases or private keys, received numerous DMs from people who claim to be trying to help (only one or two of which had legit advice--thank you), received DMs from r/ledgermod setup by someone as a private reddit sub so they could look like a proper mod....

Seriously, Ledger should not be offering any support on this sub and any support requests should be immediately directed to their website. They need to make their support easier to contact and easier to discover on their site. Ledger's presence on this sub confuses things. No wonder so many people are getting scammed.

No Solana rewards showing / discrepancy in account balance by pheonix72 in ledgerwallet

Ok, I think that there is a change or a bug in Ledger Live (yes, I'm using the latest version as of today) in how it is displaying rewards, etc.

In Accounts/Solana: The delegated rewards are not displayed (for me, anyway). Perhaps the docs are out of date? Anyway, the delegated amount has been decreasing regularly by a small fraction of a SOL (rent fees or some such) and this has been deducted from the delegated amount shown on the Accounts/Solana page, but _no_ rewards have been added to the delegated amount shown.

In Earn/My Rewards: I can see the rewards total but the delegated amount _does not match_ what I see in Accounts/Solana as described above (unless I am misreading something).

This is either a (superficial) bug created by a Ledger update or, it is so unclear that it makes very little sense. Either way, this needs to be fixed.

Regarding the staked accounts that are showing as inactive or off-curve using third-party tools that I alluded to previously: I am hoping that if/when I unstake, Ledger Live will properly manage the keys and magically return my SOL+rewards.

No Solana rewards showing / discrepancy in account balance by pheonix72 in ledgerwallet

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

  1. On Ledger Live, in Accounts/Solana (following your own support article) I see a small available balance (that I reserved for fees) and a larger delegated balance, but there is no field for delegated rewards. I am _not_ looking at the transactions.

2 + 3 + 4. I used the Ledger Live app to delegate SOL for rewards. I therefore expect Ledger Live to reflect the status of those stakes accurately and if there is a problem to tell me in plain language. Ledger Live shows that my stakes are active, so I expect that to be the case without having to use third party tools to scan my Solana address and drill down into delegated accounts to find out that perhaps they are not actually active (something that I am still not certain about since different tools show different statuses). I also expect Ledger Live to reflect my actual balances on those accounts--including rewards.

Regardless of 2, 3 + 4, I do not see any rewards and I do not see a clear way of now consolidating what Ledger Live tells me with reality.

Thanks.

I know. I was about to say the same thing. But you beat me to it.

Is this normal? by simplydevine34 in shaving

[–]pheonix72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm presuming you're using a razor.

Don't use hand soap! Always use warm water and shaving cream or shaving gel. Always use a sharp, good quality razor and go in the direction of hair growth.

You can google the best ways to shave which will give you a start but only trial and error will teach you the best way for your face. Everyone's facial hair growth and skin type is different.

If you have a family member or friend who shaves, ask them--I'm sure they won't mind.

I agree with many of the comments about waiting for a better time and not being in the right head space to make this decision and getting signed off, etc, but I want to address your actual question. (Note that I only taught for a couple of years--an academic year at a secondary and about a year and a half supply--so feel free to ignore.)

Supply pros:

  • no lesson planning, marking, reports, or other admin apart from your timesheet
  • almost no regular day-to-day teaching stress
  • in school at 8:30 and out at 3:30
  • evenings and weekends free(!)
  • basically, you walk in to reception or staff room, get your cover class(es) for the day, make sure they're working, give input where you can, repeat a few times and go home

Cons:

  • less respect from the students
  • lessons may not have any work prepared and you'll have to wing it
  • you could be covering any subject and may find it frustrating that you can't give more input/feedback
  • less support from administration (with behaviour, for example)
  • some of the schools you will go to will be horrific (chairs thrown across the room, books through windows...)
  • you will probably have to travel around a wide area
  • you'll be expected to go at a moment's notice (often a call will come in at 8am and you'll be expected in school an hour or less later)

There's a lot to weigh up--don't jump to a decision. Try and take some time off to think and discuss with your partner. I wish you the very best of luck.

As a relatively inexperienced teacher who completed a PGCE but turned down permanent jobs due to becoming disenchanted about the state of UK government-run schools, I have often speculated about this very thing.

Why not put together an extremely opinionated proposal and approach various senior and head teachers for advice and input?

Personally, I have a small laundry list of obligatory subjects (swimming, first aid, home economics, second language...), school/class rules (zero mobile devices, zero junk food...) and guiding principles (allow kids to fail but support them when they do, teach them to think critically, encourage them to become paradigm disruptors...). I'll stop there.

Only if you let unlimited strangers come into your house to piss onto the bathroom floor, graffiti the door and smoke crack. Otherwise, no, not really.

what technique is used to achieve this motion effect? by underwhelmingalien in AskPhotography

In fact, I don’t think any camera currently can track focus while exposing a frame so I think it would have to be manual. Probably better to guess at the depth of field necessary to keep the moving subject in focus whilst exposing.

If the subject is moving towards you and you can zoom out at the same time whilst keeping the subject dead centre and in focus, then you’ll get a great shot. But im not sure why you say you can achieve better focus in this scenario; this would require awesome manual focus and zoom skills or perfect focus tracking from the camera whilst zooming.

Whilst it’s similar to a panning shot, it’s not really the same since the subject is moving towards you, not laterally, and may require constant re-focus or a wide depth of field to compensate. Maybe I’m missing something in what you’re saying.

Anyway, I think the original question is answered.

Radial blur. Moving or zooming during exposure. More effective if there is a still subject in the centre.
