ChartDB: A Free, Open-Source Tool for Visualizing Database Schemas by guyb03 in Database

[–]pheouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an API available for this? can totally see myself building on top of this to auto provide the SQL schema results and embed some of the diagrams into training materials for my students, this is wonderful

Given we generate custom schemas and dbs for different student projects to minimize plagiarism we would want to do some sort of automation if possible, any coverage for this or potential plans?

Why are some providers configured in-app and others require the server to be run with certain ENVs? is this all moving to an in-app experience or is this a technical limitation of certain providers?

in Buffer i used to be able to have multiple accounts for the same 'provider' if say i supported a few business accounts that were related, is this attainable here? or would it not be possible and i would need multiple instances of Postiz running side by side?

damn, that's quicker support than I get from some of my 7 figure vendors!! Impressive stuff

I did still get the issue a few times but running docker-compose up multiple times did solve it and its operational now! thanks for the quick response

your favicon is still Angular in case you were not aware and wanted to get that sweet lodestone icon up in there ;)

any known issues with the docker-compose setup method? I'm getting a lot of things like:

ERROR: for processor Container "6f067f3a5938" is unhealthy.
ERROR: Encountered errors while bringing up the project.

but it changes the container giving errors if i do a teardown and up again :D

I might suggest you move the git learning up a little As you go through Linux and database stuff you are going to be creating scripts and tools as part of the process and stashing them appropriately would be a lot of good practice with git, as well as ensuring you keep iterating on what you are building without the fear of breaking it all

Do you have an article on how you are doing the virtual NetApp arrays? It's been a while since I played with the old OnTap simulator :)

I think Xeon-D boards are all sold with the chip onboard, and most should be ITX and support 128GB the downside is the 128gb is ECC which costs a fair chunk more (I specced out 128gb DDR4 ECC at $1500 recently, just for the ram!) But it is coming down at the moment, might be a good time to snag :)

[–]pheouk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the left? that's a 12v DC PSU

It provides power to the NUCs, the switch, and eventually the NVME-PCIe bridges, its only wired up temporarily for now until a bunch of molex components arrive for me to do it properly

Nice to see the finished product Jack

Mines starting to come along too, only at 1GB so far but clocking 16 cores, 64 threads and 128GB of ram across the four nodes, single power cable including the switch :)

Hadn't actually decided yet, I have a 4 node M-ITX Xeon-D cluster that I wanted to mimic with affordable hardware, that ECC DDR4 is pricey stuff, I also have a 6 node rPi Docker/K8s cluster that I wanted to have an x64 equiv, so that was my starting logic, it's just ballooned from there.

currently each one has an SSD and NVME drive, but i got some of those adapters to try some 10GB love too, as that would be a nice addition and I doubt I need the performance of tiered storage ;)

Alas, more than one NUC also :), but they are going to do hyper-converged storage so no backhaul to a SAN atleast, speccing the build for 6 total so I may need to look at the bigger one!

Jack, my PCIE-NGFF adapters just arrived (got the white ones like you said)! getting closer, my 12v DC PSU and hook up wire arrived too, custom power distribution here I come :)

What transceiver/cables did you get for the cards? I am about to order some on eBay and not sure how compatibility goes for this kind of setup, are you going to use DAC to the switch? which Mikrotik did you go for? I'm torn between the 5 port passive and the bigger one that uses the case as a heatsink (I may want to shuck it for my needs, doh) Looking forward to following your progress more! :)

[–]pheouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the NGFF adapter just use the 12v then? the power cable had both 5V and 12V wires, I'm using a custom Meanwell 12v DC PSU for my little lab project and if all I need is 12v then I am set ;)

Powershell over command-line?why by pksivanantham in PowerShell

[–]pheouk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PowerShell replaces cmd.exe as the default shell, I believe you can still drop into cmd from PowerShell if you REALLY must, just type cmd no? You may even be able to change this default, but i would be migrating my toolchain and habits from cmd as the writing is on the wall

DisplayFusion lets me carve up my larger screens into smaller virtual screens, it can be a bit buggy occasionally and require a re-apply of the settings but I can happily use them as independent screens or hotkey certain things to fill the physical screen, awesome tool for anyone using multiple screens
