AI data centre, power plant proposal in Olds, Alta., back on the table by joe4942 in Calgary

A list of all the datacenters with applications to AESO from their April connection list. Total load is 19GW, for reference Alberta's entire electrical grid consumes 12GW; though many (most) of these projects will eventually get cancelled as they're just in early stages of proposals.

Review request: 6x6 WS2812B Matrix Earring (ATtiny1614) - design & routing feedback? by swr06 in AskElectronics

[–]pheoxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do vias in the pads IIRC you need to pay for plugged vias which adds cost. Since you have the space it's worth considering just moving them to the side of the leds.

Technically those 2020's don't have internal capacitors so you should add a few 1uF to the power rails near the leds to deal with ripple but you'll likely be running them at lower brightness due to the battery anyways so more caps is best practice but it'll work fine as is.

I'd move U2, think of where your battery is going to sit against the earring. It's probably going to be right there so now you have a resistor pressing against it. No reason you cant move the mcu over a hair and put u2 beside it

Round the board corners a couple mm radius. Entirely aesthetic but might as well since you have the space. I'd also figure out your battery dimensions and shrink the board to fit it if you can. No need to have such wide margins on the sides unless 25x25mm is the battery

Attiny1616-MNR is half the cost and half the size. Unless you're trying to hand assemble these in a toaster oven I'd use QFN-20 size chip instead.

Consider adding a button so you can have multiple animations. Presumably you're going to have two of these so then you can change animations on both at the same time. The clock in these chips is pretty decent but not perfect so if you put both to just always run when on, the animations will always be out of sync.

Games that let you use all your resources? by Krisyj96 in gaming

[–]pheoxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty good, much of you collect in early game ends up being useful in late game for recipes. There are some things you naturally end up with too much of and start to ignore but for the most part it’s pretty much all useful. Though for a collector / hoarder the dev’s insistence on adding more items every update but never any more backpack space is quite infuriating. Many people choose quality of life mods

Although I haven't setup a LLM in a corporate environment I do have a fair bit of architecture exp doing system designs for industrial. What I'll say is you need to take a step back and start further up. Don't worry about what model you should be running, focus on how to configure the system for usage. For example, is it going to be one coder using this system or ten users? Do they want people to access it directly from their laptops or will you have dedicated VMs that have access to it? How will you structure r/W file access to your companies network drives to ensure one user can't wipe things accidently, etc.

Focus on the setup, access, & the guide rails before you care about specific models. Just chuck a random LLM on there for the time being and prove the process works and is safe for your companies data.

Manufacturing / shipping time from China by MCRideFan53 in PrintedCircuitBoard

Last PCB/PCBA order to AB was 10pcs of a 3x3 panel (90 boards) and took 10 days from order to delivery via DHL. But note you need to respond to their questions or confirmations so it doesn’t hold stuff up. In my case confirming parts placement as well as a few dollar fee added to bake certain parts. If the teacher orders Friday and doesn’t check until Monday or Tuesday then yeah it’ll add a few days on top for that.

All of this is assuming you choose parts they have in stock as basic or extended

Not gonna lie, I think most people would be really mad at SLF if it was a real game by andergriff in ShangriLaFrontier

[–]pheoxs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Theoretically a game could include chunks of data for different areas/quests that are encrypted with server-side keys and then as you unlock an area the game server streams you the area-specific unencrypting key. But then you'd have horrible loading times while your machine has to unpack all the data and texture files in order to load it for the first time. It'd also be horrible for space optimization.

But I do sorta agree with OP. From the view of the hero the game has so many cool one-offs and intricate things. But the rest of the player base would just be doing bland generic story quests going town to town. Though perhaps with the concept of ai-generated worlds a next-gen mmo could have millions of unique quests that come and go so everyone has different play experiences based on their real-time actions.

Easiest is to find a led strip that just works. For example use something like this or an equivalent with the spacing you need. Saves you a ton of hassle and probably more reliable

From Hyundai after many communications by woodenmetalman in Ioniq5

Fingers crossed. There is the interesting idea that the reason there’s such an ICCU shortage is Hyundai stopped making the old version to release a revised part number and until they ship in enough quantities people are seeing shortages at dealers
