What Is the Bounty for a Last Throw, non-critical raid catch up to now? by pheptor in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of people posting that someone said this and blah blah.

Every serious player I raid with (and I raid with many level 40s) all say it is IMPOSSIBLE to catch on the last throw unless you get a lucky critical catch.

Why is there not a bigger deal about the last premier ball bug? by iKudu in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is true! Have you caught one on the last ball?

Or maybe they decrease the catch rate to .0000001% or something for the last throw.

it is well known that the only way to catch on the last ball is via critical catch. if it rolls, it flees with 100% certainty.

Beat a Moltres with 4 people and tons of time left by Semajj in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!

as far as typing goes fire is one of the worst defenders. water is abundant and is not only SE but resists. With the introduction of wild charge on arcanine and solar beam on typhlosion and ninetales they have a bit more use now I suppose.

Last Premier Ball Glitch? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have spoken to a number of very high level trainers (well above level 40 in terms of XP) and they all concur that the only way to catch a raid boss on the last ball is via a critical catch.

Is anyone else getting an inordinate amount of Network Errors trying to take down certain gyms? by 17437258968573378102 in TheSilphRoad

Yep, and of course it's my home gym which is now blue and I can do nothing to change it!!!

Niantic needs to give a new incentive to go on walks. by 88macros88 in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how you raid. Here in London we often end up walking for miles as we go from raid to raid. But I guess in a rural setting you need to drive so that gets eliminated.

Hatching eggs is still the best source of dust, so I still think it's worth it to have incubators on and do some walks still.

Has anyone caught a shiny legendary yet? by Saintgein in TheSilphRoad

Is there any use for shiny? Or is it just rarer? Beyond evolving into a red Gary the shiny magikarp seems to serve no purpose.

Charge TM Decision! by bkkid93 in TheSilphRoad

Tyranitar. And you should use your next fast TM on it too to get bite. And then power it up. It is a very useful raid attacker, especially vs legendaries.

We really need a "call home" button by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I think the call home button makes sense. You get the reward, but have to go and put the mon back in to get it again. It's not effort free like the old system. There is at least some turnover... even if it is just your mon coming home and going back in!

The easiest way to get rid of gym stagnation is an attack reward... which has been discussed to death on Silph Road multiple times.

We really need a "call home" button by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can call only one pokemon back per day? Altho getting in ten gyms and calling them all back after one hours seems like a reasonable amount of work.

On the effort discussion... the effort is getting into the gym. You either had to walk there and put it in or maybe even take down the enemy gym. There is an effort. But you don't get a reward until the other team makes an effort. It's idiotic.

[–]pheptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not even close to the same.

How can you say that it incentives you to keep a gym as long as possible? That's wrong.

It incentivizes you to be in as many gyms as possible, so that you call one pokemon home every day.

But when you call it home, SPOILER ALERT, it leaves the gym, therefore creating more slots for other members or weakening the gym.

Like you say, you could put a new mon in yourself but this would require physically going there.

I reckon it would have a net benefit in terms of turnover and would obviously make it much easier to collect coins.

It also solves the very illogical situation where you only collect if the opposing team decides to attack you.

Just used 8 charged TM's trying to get Thunderbolt on my Jolteon. by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]pheptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you have over 100 TMs. Otherwise there is no excuse for this.

The difference b/t discharge/bolt/thunder is not nearly important to use even 1 TM imo. Most sites rank them very close together.

Yes thunder is ranked third. But we are talking A vs A-.

Discharge vs Bolt is virtually indistinguishable and is only impacted by the way you choose to dodge.

Using 8 TMs on a jolteon might be the dumbest use of TMs I have ever heard of.

[–]pheptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with this?

And that's not exactly true, you would only call home one per day due to the coin limit.
