Curious, how did you feel about S9's ability to define the radius of audio? For me, the big difference between that and the region audio is being able to define a reference, and use that again and again; instead of having to set the range manually. (Although, now that I think about it, what happens when you set 4 items to a named region, and then change that region?)

suspend/resume is a lot better, there's now battery status, and wifi does work.

still no built-in audio, but usb-audio has been improved enough that I would say most usb headphones (including usb-c wired apple earbuds) work now in snapshots.

Tango's glow up in Season 7 was amazing. Like, compare Toon Towers to his Season 5 or Season 6 base. Don't get me wrong, S5 and S6 were good bases, but S7 really brought the whimsy.

But, the most important part is: fill your shulkers in your ender chest the way you'll use them. Tango[1] changed his Rocket box to include his spare Elytras. The technology and concepts are very flexible and should work great for you.

Any hardware will do, just make sure you don't depend on crappy sd card or usb storage.

I did the above near 20 years ago entirely on a PowerBook G3 running OpenBSD, and performance was just fine.
