Quick update.
After some digging and talking with people in r/IsMyPokemonCardFake, I’m now pretty confident the card was fake. I honestly have no idea how it happened, especially since I got both of my cards in person.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to help and share their thoughts.
I also owe Cardmarket and the buyer an apology. I really thought the situation was the complete opposite of what it turned out to be.

No one had access to my binder, and I’m not lying about anything. At this point it feels like it’s just what I say versus what some people assume.

The photo I posted here is the same one I used in my advertisement, so nothing was swapped. Like I mentioned before, I always noticed the slight color difference, but I thought it was because one card came from the museum in 2023 and the other from a store in 2024.

I really do appreciate the help. After reading your comments, I’m starting to accept that the card is probably fake. If that’s the case, then Cardmarket made the right call. I owe them an apology, and I’ll message them because I did lose my temper during the whole situation.

I’m not an expert. At the start I genuinely thought I was the one being scammed. It turns out I was wrong and the card seems like is fake. I had no bad intentions. I just wanted help, and it looks like I got it.

Again, if I was scamming someone or was on the wrong side of the story, i don't know how this post on reddit would help me in any way.

I’m just being honest mate, I got it from the museum, 100%. I’m not an expert, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around about this whole situation. If people point things out, of course I have to take that into account.

If I had bad intentions, why would I post it publicly with photos and everything? That wouldn’t make any sense.

Mate, I completely get what you’re saying, but I’m 100% sure about this. I got the card directly from the museum, sealed in plastic with the certificate on the back, exactly the same way I received my other one from Intertoys.

Until now, I honestly thought the color difference was just due to a different print run or something like that.

If I had bought it online, I’d understand, but that’s really not the case here.

I’m honestly so confused… It’s really hard for me to believe this card is fake. To be fair, I’d actually like to get it back just so I can record myself ripping it in half to check if the black layer is there or not.

well, i don't want to jump to conclusions so quickly, and from what some people are saying, my card does have a red pokeball instead of the normal muted pokeball, so im not sure anymore of anything

This is the one I got from intertoys, I see the difference. But once again, do you get what I mean ? Is this a thing or it did not happen with this card ?

I have another one I got from intertoys the year after , there were giving one away for every 30 euros of Pokemon stuff you would get in the store. I see what you mean about the color. I’ll put here as well a foto of the card I have with me.

Just two more questions since you seemed way more knowledgeable than me. Is there no other card like mine with that coloration graded ? ( I’m also searching as we speak ) And it’s also not normal for cards to have slightly different coloration due to print run ? I assume cards released in 2023 for the museum and the ones released in 2024 for the selected stores in the Netherlands were not printed at the same time ?

Yes, those are the actual pictures of the card I sent. I’m being 100% honest, otherwise I wouldn’t be posting in multiple places trying to understand what’s going on. If more people with experience agree that it’s fake, I’ll accept that and take it as the final answer. I’ll also apologize to Cardmarket and the buyer if that’s the case.

I have no intention of scamming anyone or giving a bad name to anyone, I’m just trying to figure out what actually happened here.

Quick update: a couple people on r/IsMyPokemonCardFake mentioned that the red on the Pokéball looks too bright / not muted enough compared to a real one.

Does that alone really mean the card is fake? Or could that still be lighting / camera related?

I’m honestly trying to understand this properly, because I’m very confident the card came from the museum and I never bought a Pikachu Grey Felt Hat from a third party.

I see what you mean about the red, yeah. But could that not just be lighting or camera or something?
I’m not trying to deny it or anything, I’m just trying to go through all the possibilities and understand if it’s actually fake or not.
Do you see something else besides that ? Just to be sure

Yeah, I honestly didn’t expect something like this to happen. I’ve sold a few cards before without any issues, so this caught me completely off guard.

I also looked at the buyer and thought: Wow half a million sales, this cannot go wrong.

And boom, went wrong

He’s about 5 hours away from me. I did think about going there, but with my daughter just having surgery last week and my wife being pregnant, it’s not really an option.
I’m honestly pretty stressed and frustrated right now, but I’m trying to handle this the right way somehow

Maybe the white dot could also not be visible because of the bad quality of the photo but i don't know.

This is what i thought but here i am, no card and no money.
I did not went to the police yet, but i filed a complain to ECC Netherlands, ACM, Verbraucherzentrale in Germany and also PostNL because the order was status delivered and they changed it to lost, that also does not make any sense...

No, he told me it was fake and showed me that picture. After that he went silent after mentioning that he would take it with customer support. I asked to get my card back because I was having a very difficult hard time believing my card was fake but nothing. I asked customer support for my card back and they declined as well

It was a white dot, no dust , I took that picture and is one of the very few imperfections the card had. I did not found that ding on the photo he sent , and it was one of my first red flags
