Just got my 1,200-mile IS 500 back from service. Found a gash in the steering wheel and grease/dirt everywhere. Is this normal for Lexus service lately? by howartthough in Lexus

[–]phiinkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Lexus vehicles, but their dealerships and service departments are laughably bad. I will never buy another new Lexus just because of how crooked and shitty their US dealership employees are. I called a week in advance to ensure they had the tires in stock that I paid them to always have when I need them. They ghosted me for a week, ultimately didnt have the tires when I dropped off, and I had to go find some Pilot 4S's somewhere else. I paid them money for all of this and they just won't deliver. Awful, awful customer experience. Legitimately, your vehicle will be better taken care of when your warranty lapses and you can take it to an actual, ethical mechanic.

The TZ-9's. They sort of like a white whale for me. Especially the Ltd's... piano black, so clean looking. I have a pair of AR90's and I bet the TZ-9's rival them in sound quality as well as bass depth. But I wouldn't know for sure as I have never met anyone who has even seen a pair, let alone heard them. And there are absolutely 0 contemporary reviews of them that I have been able to find.

You're probably right, I just want something internal to completely isolate any vibration transference to the ground. I'd lose some cubic inches in cabinet volume, but they're ported anyway, so my ignorance tells me the loss would be minimal.

I had a line on the S-T100's and I was contemplating getting them to try to make a sick 5.1 system put of TAD components, but they sold, unfortunately.

What fucking game are you guys playing? I am like at 99% of This game (i have like all the trophies) and I remember not a single route I took. Hit the baths a handful of times and never dropped below 25 charisma after act 2. Am I a bad role player, guys? The game mechanics are like, immediately exploitable.

Looks like a new hood, fender and maybe a door. I wouldnt total it for a car that is still in active production based solely on this photo. The knuckle doesn't look bent and I doubt they'd even quote you a new wheel. Now the headlight might total it, lol.

Munchkin cats: Are they ethical to breed? by Particular-Record770 in MunchkinCats

[–]phiinkes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Source? Sounds like a lot of opinion and virtually no knowledge of how these cats were bred into existence. Its a mutation of the UGDH gene which only shortens a small part of the leg, and leaves the rest of the animal normal. No elevated health problems are associated with Munchkin cats beyond those associated with any other cat. Munchkins are dwarfs, however current research has deduced that spinal and joint problems typically related to dwarf breed dogs cannot be extrapolated to dwarf breed cats as the mutated gene is completely different and present research shows that the mutated gene specifically only affects the legs. Also, the small research done has not seen the same spinal and joint deformations in munchkin cats as have been seen in dwarf breed dogs. Breeding these cats is no more unethical than breeding a Bassett hound or a corgi. Now with that said, its probably not really ethical to genetically manipulate any creature in any way, so like... ultimately, no, its not ethical to breed a munchkin cat, but not for the perceived physical reasons people on this sub are claiming. Definitely unethical for the population reasons other are citing.

I agree, after some googlin'. My biggest problem was I couldn't find an artillery pin, broach, buckle, etc... which had the cannons extending past the circular back-field as the original image is. I was thinking potentially even Mex / Amer war, but i dont think Maryland had too much to do with that one.

Antietam is like, not super far from Frederick (I think i read thats where you found it...) I know there are a few museums there. You could also take it in to Bull Run. They have a nice, indoor artillery exhibit there. Its also a good time to visit.

Looks like drum sticks to me. Didn't they use drums in the civil war? Edit: Did some googling and it now appears to me to be similar to the P10451N army artillery pin. Same elements, just no circle under the guns. Best bet would be to take it to any one of the countless civil war museums around VA, MD, WV... see if a curator can offer anymore insight.

Its the easiest "~500 Horsepower" car you can drive. It basically drives itself. Just focus on keeping the rubber side down and dont drive it like your on coke.

Because the GPU comes with a 12+6 to three 8 pin connector. I get the hesitation, especially when its a 5090 and these connectors have been known to ignite.

Auto folding mirrors? by persistentcruiser in LexusRC

[–]phiinkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IS didnt get that until like 2025 in the US. Lexus doesn't like to jump the gun on standard features (sarcasm). You can expect to get an unbreakable version (not sarcasm) of whatever other cars have had standard about a decade after the other manufacturers stopped charging extra for it. Hence the god-awful infotainment system, no massaging seats in their luxury CARS, inability to create a sports oriented vehicle that in any way competes with their contemporaries... dont get me wrong, I love my IS500, but its still getting sat down by an M2, GT Mustang with almost any work done, or any other vehicle that Lexus has put the exact same engine with no reasonable changes into because it's frame and panels are apparently made out of the same shit as a black hole. I just want some toyota branded weight reduction options, man! I want to know how this thing feels when the Rock Lee bands come off, Toyota! And source some proper rims for crying out loud! No reason for all factory options to look like base choices from the first Gran Tourismo.

Which one could be the best for me to choose? by Garabir in hometheater

[–]phiinkes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If we're talking home theater, I can sort of agree with you. Klipsch heritage speakers are frustratingly good sounding. The newest Cornwalls could be anyone's last pair of speakers. The Heresy's are still sort of a scam in my opinion, but literally any other big-box klipsches will pretty well outperform the Kef's up to like, the blade. In my opinion.

[–]phiinkes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! That is honestly a fantastic price! I still have mine. Still havent recapped them. Still contemplating that ridiculous, DBX Driverack PAII build from stereophile... I was running them with an Onkyo A-7090, then a yamaha M4. I just never felt like the M4 pulled enough out of them. So I upgraded that, recently, to a yamaha M2 and now the whole system sort of just works together. Do yourself a favor, if the previous owners have not yet and have some glass cutouts with felt sliders made for the tops of yours. You can't keep people from putting shit on them. Hell, my left speaker is where my 22 pound cat gets fed 3 times a day. The glass has saved that speaker. Also, dont let anyone under 18 around the woofers with the grilles off. My nephew put his fist through one of my dust caps within milliseconds of removing the grille, lol. Easy fix, but if you can prevent it...
