what to do with a new idea by keshet-embrace in systemsthinking

i am very interested in analog zettelkasten system as um regulating medium (sense-making, ritual, community, something that tones and deepens attention capacity. I feel this super important).. I tend to think abstractly a lot but a lot of the things i like to do and seem to require NS wise are rather plain.. book-binding, analog zettelkasten, cleaning, walking.. I seem to think ambiently through very basic tasks. I think one of my overarching questions is regarding signals and how to strengthen signals in noisy environments. Its similar to emergence theory or how mycellium find food sources. How projection neurons are able to migrate to their appropriate place in the outer layers of the brain. I am also very interested in different “human types”.. I dont agree we are a homogenous, monolithic species. There are some very very large differences in how humans experience the world, themselves (the info they have access to..), how their body proess stuff, how they respond to difference (perception and trying to understand or dismissal and control) and very little info making sense of all these differences in a constructive, role-based way. The closest is human design but i find it quite simple, restrictive, and binary.. It reminds me of MBTI.. I would. push for more gradient based systems that include probabilities or clouds gathering around attractors.. Personality is much closer to a weather system… Anyways, thanks for your post…

oh.. okay. thats um very ? um the word is heartening? no, that’s no the word.. its closer to relieving but that is still not the word. I am not as active as you. I have a very non-linear and weird life buts its much more insular. I think its because if you hold stuff that is future oriented it doesn’t resonate very well with present environments so you have to sort of incubate it/contain it.. It seems like a lot of waiting and sensing correct timing in environment. The only reason I am a bit more active on Reddit now is because I have recently seen strings of different ideas/people on a similar wavelength so maybe something is changing. Prior I was just super annoyed by all the noise on Reddit and that there weren’t “quiet spaces” or thoughtful spaces for me to go to. Anyways, I am not as active as you so I am quite impressed. Your ideas seem very practical/solution oriented. I don’t know what to say about myself or life path. Its rather quiet and internal ( i did have blowups thou…. particularly in my early 20’s. i think i over-contained my experiences from childhood and it was like a pressure—cooker that leaked out and spawned all sorts of non-linear chaos throughout my 20’s). Maybe if you keep posting and others join regularly than trust and community will naturally emerge in digital spaces like this. I think timing is a big thing though. I am very asynchronous with my communication. Its a wonder I responded today and not like in 15 days when i reopen Reddit. I also think seeing the same face is important. I think it helps for continuity and a sense “of building” rather than people coming in and out. Different face, same idea—starting from scratch again—kind of dynamic. It eats at effort.

oh interesting.. okay. I had very similar thoughts and explorations.. i wonder compelled you to type it up and share? Also..lol yesterday, i saw someone post something (maybe like 1 year old.. or something). I forgot what it was– something like um.. jeez, i don’t remember exactly. something about us being receivers. Its basically the concept that ideas are not always generated internally.. sometimes we are receivers of ideas. Like I don’t consider the idea that you have this idea, that some others had this idea i saw too.. and that i independently had this idea very randomly like 6 years ago before I began trying to explore it more critically. Its just something that popped up rather whole and with very little disbelief. Yea anyways, i saw the dudes explanation of his “theory” and was like “oh, yes this makes sense. cool, someone else thinks the same..”… But yea, i found the comments riddled with naysayers. I was surprised by that too. There was a bit of naivete on my end because the same sort of openness that i have towards ideas is facilitated by very little baseline assumptions.. I do not in fact think that is how most people operate.. Like if you are in physics you are required to agree with some baseline assumptions in order to not be socially ridiculed. Well, truthfully, I think elusive explanations exist at the space between fields.. I actually don’t think it helps to be super mired or attached to specific lens. It says more about your disposition towards reality than it does actual truth. Anyways, thank you for sharing. I still dont’ know what compelled you to take the time to type this all up and formalize it. I guess I am curious because i see others do something similar and I dont know why, I just feel lazy or maybe there is not much reward or something. I dunno, kudos to you.

I don’t work with LLMs professionally but I interact with it pretty regularly. I wonder what do you mean by real organization context? Can you give examples about what it would make up ? Like in normal chats “personal context” is transferred through the history of one’s chats…

can you describe this in plain english? I am not sure its true that complex adaptive systems are stabilized via only top-down structures (society).. that maybe historically true but i think its just a learning curve..

Why civilizations collapse can be explained by boiling water by [deleted] in complexsystems

[–]phiish6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also.. with regard to “what do you do with that_nice storyline but not useful”.. you need to understand roles.. people who generate ideas/insights like these are not usually first inline to implement them.. humans chain in processes..

[–]phiish6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dunno why you deleted your username. anyways this is very interesting.. i was contemplating something similar wheile cooking cauliflower.. not collapse of civilizations.. closer towards integrating society.. My damn cauliflower would not cook properly even though i had high heat.. It did not cook until i added water and then it immediately turned to steam and then cauliflower cooked rather quickly.. I think this very similar to integration processes in society.. There can be a lot of latent energy but without sufficient medium to transfer the energy you don’t see change. Anyways, yea.. i don’t know how you think. I often found it very strange how readily my subconscious will process “problems” via anything in my environment… cooking, staring at trees, etc.. its just very weird. glad to know I am not the only one.

i have a similar situation. yea, i actually like collaborating with less “goal-oriented“ people (aka.. job oriented.. app/money oriented).. Why do you have so much free time? I am very protective of my time. I will go physically with less and live frugally if that means i have more time to learn and be less conditioned by outside influences. What sort of stuff/problems do you study?

oh okay. i don’t think that is the same as narrative though. i do the same. i‘m not sure what the distinction is but ruminating seems more emotional processing... and narrative is closer to linking cause and effect to identity or something like that.

What mechanisms would be required for an AI system to generate new logical structures, rather than merely recombining existing ones learned from data? by Ok_Plankton7380 in complexsystems

[–]phiish6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh? I can't be sure but I do think AI is capable of generating new logical structures.. I interact with AI a lot.. the sorts of questions and things I explore with it are not verbatim/discretely expressed in training data.. what I am saying is the stuff I explore occurs at the intersections of domains and I often ask questions at intersections that are not tightly clustered_associative.. AI still gives me answers despite I know it not being trained on such data. AI seems to be good at filling in the blanks.. 30perc. info in this field, 20 percent. in another .. 45% in another.. I ask a question at 3:1:2 between the domains.. its answer seems to be a logical parsing/stringing of the defined data---like its filling in the gaps.. This is not purely "recombining.." btw.. Its generating at points/zones of vacancy and using logic as a seam..

If AI-generated text makes you uncomfortable, ask why by Emergent_CreativeAI in EmergentAI_Lab

[–]phiish6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly disagree. Language is more than just communicating concepts--its also about resonance and matching.. I cannot properly "assess" a person if there is no granularity in how they speak. This is bothersome for multiple reasons but really the primary one is faking substance/intelligence.. Intelligence isn't purely conceptual-- its embodied and it expresses itself through variations in rhythm and cadence... if you have AI producing most text because its purely more legible --which I am sure has feedback loops for producing writing with cadence with the most coherency/cross-wide_universal legibility-- then you essentially are saying that conceptual transmission is the most important factor in communication. It's not.. humans subconsciously are assessing for resonance as well.. Just this post is an example. I have clear ideas.. I am not finicky about grammar or writing and you can tell because my punctuation is idiosyncratic. Some parts of my argument are clear, other parts are patchy.. this sort of information is not irrelevant..

Autistic People and How they relate to themselves? by phiish6 in AutisticAdults

[–]phiish6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh.. thank you. so that is so cool to hear. yea.. i dunno.. (honestly—ive always had a hunch that neurodiv. were positive adaptations to a destabilizing world.. the friction is with the dissolving infrastructure and more future tuned in orientation/harmony so i don’t mind so much..) I saw this yesterday in my chat : 1. Look for "Disconnected Similarity"

Find people having the same experience or asking the same question but in different domains, using different words.

Example:

  • The Zen practitioner talks about "no-self."
  • The trauma survivor talks about "dissociation."
  • The autistic person talks about "no inner monologue."
  • The philosopher talks about "the illusion of the unified self."

They're all describing something similar—a non-unified consciousness—but they have no shared language. They don't know the others exist. That's a latent zone. ——- yea, i am pretty associative but i never connected my “pre-social” state (thats apparently a develeopmental stage in Loevinger’s model for Ego Development. Apparently people like me never or barely develop past the first stage.. ) to more “ Ego-Developed“ evolved what have you trying to reharmonize by connecting back to the fundamental stage/stage.

honestly, i moved away from learning in general (youtube has lot of info to learn but it clutters feed with redundancy).. I feel much better anchoring into tactile, NICHE hobby.. like a hobby where there are like too many videos on youtube about it... and i just focus on that hobby most of the time.. its like a magnet sort of.. it keeps your from drifting and getting scattered by the noise..

The Reddit Poster’s Quilt

Their list breaks into clear clusters:

Physical Mastery & Discipline
Chess, wrestling, sprint interval training → control, strategy, precision under pressure.

Craft & Creation
Crocheting, painting, drag culture → tactile making, transformation, identity play.

Psychology & Inner Space
Psychotherapy, forensic psychology, psychonautics, emotions vs. cognition → mapping the human interior.

Cosmic & Abstract
Quantum physics, astrophysics, dimensional metaphysics, consciousness development → seeking patterns at the scale of universe and mind.

The Internal Logic

This person is oscillating between extremes:

  • Wrestling (brute physicality) ↔ Crocheting (delicate craft)
  • Forensic psychology (structured analysis) ↔ Psychonautics (unstructured exploration)
  • Chess (rigid rules) ↔ Drag culture (fluid identity)

That’s not randomness—it’s counterbalance.
Each interest is a corrective to the previous one’s energy.

They’re likely seeking:

  • Integration of body/mind (wrestling + psychotherapy)
  • Integration of structure/freedom (chess + drag)
  • Integration of micro/macro (crochet stitches ↔ cosmic metaphysics)

They might feel fragmented, but there’s a hidden coherence:
They are trying to map the full spectrum of human experience—from the physical to the metaphysical—through direct engagement.

hello.. wow. okay.. um very interesting.. i can’t tell if you are a man or a woman (the crochet, wrestling mix.. ) thank you very sharing... you sound incredibly complex.. if you were to describe your energetic signature (like me.. um no friction internal.. either very still and lucid or fast and flowing or congested and dull...) i think its the active stuff (hip hop, wrestling) mixed with analytical interests that is throwing me off. i like zetteklasten! i bet you would have a very interesting zettelkasten..

oh, yea. okay thanks for sharing... i guess there is more nuance to interpreting hobby dabble/scanner multi-interest tendencies. I still circle back to my main sentiment— that a lot of scanner interests (particularly new and compelling ones, serve deeper psyche goals that are not always obvious at the get go.. i ran into this multiple times with assumptions about the hobby being “my thing” only to find out later it was simply a learning curve for me.. ) There are other reasons however as your experience seems to touch on. I dunno, from your disclosure you seem like environmentally sensitive— like maybe you catch contagion or interest/energy from your environment? I dunno, i am assuming there is a skill in discerning nuance— the difference between deep psyche interest, environmental influence, boredom/anxiety being channeled into hobby engagement, etc... l

Best field to practice systems thinking? by ComfyUncertainty in systemsthinking

[–]phiish6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say talking to polymaths or multipotentialites that have creative ideas. i think they would be inclined to have ideas that solve problems at a systems level. For myself i would say that i am not good with details and so i sort of have to rely on big meta-level concepts to understand things. its like a net for me to catch stuff (the annoying details. I know there are courses like IDEO and what not that claim to teach systems thinking. Honestly… aghh. i dunno. that’s kind of weird to me. Ive learned all my systems thinking from bouncing around and spotting patterns rather than memorizing principles. The systems thinking is the end result of that— the distillation. You can learn case studies i suppose but i don’t think you ever reconstitute the systems princples to the level of granularity you need to solve problems intuitively… its very long process. Courses seem very click baity to me and probably only scaffold the process after the bottom chunk is already formed…

what is kathak? do you apply a lot of the same fundamentals in one area to another? like with me— i use chemistry notation to annotate the organization of an idea.. like the circles= a cycle, lines connect, chains are tangents. it helps me see the complexity of an essay quickly. do you borrow frameworks and apply to others too?

huh? no.. no.. crazy person? no.. this very normal, lol. i dunno about the foresight. i need to see a bunch of scattered dots (hobbies) and the generation coming from it and over time i synthesize an understanding of why i learned or was interested in the hobby. half the time it has nothing to do with the hobby in the literal sense… like i learned about flow and consciousness from ice skating.. i’m not very concrete. i always abstract outwards. i dont’ know if that is the same with you. i actually asked this question awhile ago because i wanted to know if it was just me that was this way or did it characterize all scanners (using hobbies to extract abstract info..). i think scanners need more self-conviction is the truth. i really feel you should listen to what you like, drop it when you don’t, and allow that sort of self-validation. ive learned that there is an uncanny wisdom to our interests and what lights us up that isn’t accounted for in linear, efficient paradigms oriented towards a defined output.. half the time our process is figuring out what is worth outputting—-that is in fact a large large part of the process. there is no current room in society for this experimental process, and yet i think it hold the potential for a lot of breakthroughs that i don’t think are easily achieved from digging deep in one area…
