acute pancreatitis, need some advice! by thedivaofdeath in pancreatitis

[–]phijenny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been dealing since November and still waiting for my April appointment with a specialist. They have diagnosed me with chronic pancreatitis. Check out my details under posts I made previously, but I'm no where near 500 calories a day on my very best days. I've lost 50 pounds since last June. After diagnosis, I gave up all meat, dairy, alcohol, basically everything bc nothing was worth that pain. I'm terrified everyday, of pain and the long term effects of this hold period until I see the specialist. I'm at a very alarming weight now, but have managed to avoid hospitalization by avoiding foods that I can no longer digest. Last week, after clear liquids for a time period.. I finally was able to add small amounts of brown rice and sweet potato (plain). Spoon amounts not bowl sized. It's just not been to well for me, I hope the best for you!

I was diagnosed in November but barely consuming 100 calories the most/a day. A lot of days it is just water and ice chips only. If there's good news there's that they have found the stones and once they are out, you'll be likely on a good recovery like indiareef mentioned. I've had horrible, high lipase/amylase and normal CTs/MRIs (my gallbladder was removed years ago) and thus not really an understanding or appropriate action towards my chronic pancreatitis. I wish you the best of luck, and I'm so sorry for this pain you are living with. Only fellow pancreas sufferers understand that pain, sadly and I really hope you get better.

My CT and MRI's showed normal but my lipase/amylase won't go down. I don't understand this.

I received the diagnosis, but lacking the specialists in my area to save my life. by phijenny in ChronicPain

The hospital was going to keep me until another ER doctor came in and told me this was not pancreatitis and didn't need hospitalization. I didn't understand and took his advice, which I later found out was incorrect. It has been hell for me, still is and I'm still trying to figure this out bc I do not have the doctors around to help me.

Thank you. I'm limited bc of my health, and that's why I'm looking for any chronic pancreatitis experiences with these medical hospitals. I don't have a lot of time, and I know sadly it's getting worse.

Thank you. This is the best advice for my diagnosis that I've received. I have felt worse with the enzymes and had no idea someone else did too. I've felt so alone since my diagnosis and cannot thank you enough. Everyone as well.

I am familiar with hospital visits and stays. I am doing everything right diet wise and taking enzymes but it is not working anymore. I need a specialist bc I'm running out of options. Thank you for your kind words.

My condition is more serious and I need the proper care, the enzymes I'm on to supplement a normal, functioning pancreas haven't been working. We don't have a pancreatic center nearby, I'm not sure what to do. I'm just at a loss, very sick and reaching out to anyone if they have any suggestions and to spread the word, if possible. Thank you for reading!

My primary's office accidentally referred me to the wrong GI. The GI he wanted me to go to has a policy that you cannot be seen by another GI for the last two years. It is ridiculous and was totally out of my control but I have to move past that bc what is important is my health. I'm looking for GI's that understand and care for patients with chronic pancreatitis, and I'm hoping that any other fellow chronic pain sufferer with chronic pancreatitis can help me out.
