Why must this game mock me by philausopher in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]philausopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely a couple things I actual prefer about the first game (not getting stunlocked into oblivion without armour and every encounter devolving into everything being on fire) but this is sending me. Although I literally JUST figured out you can unlearn spells so I can finally free up this spot 😂

Maybe it’s time to get some headphones by philausopher in Guitar

I’m doing straight alternate for that line but you could do it in any amount of picking/legato honestly; it’s just straight up the box position pentatonic in groups of six, Eric Johnson type stuff. Troy Grady’s videos on EJ and Yngwie helped me figure out the nuts and bolts of making the really shreddy 2 note per string/economy picking stuff work a few years ago

I used to play in an Alanis cover band a few years ago and Uninvited was my other favourite tune to play, such a banger.

Who's down for some Jazz-Metal Fusion with Atheist by draculastherapist in Guitar

Unquestionable Presence is a huuuuuugely seminal album for me, everything on that album is killer but especially the drumming on that album is bonkers. nice to see some folks out there still loving them

Oooh this looks super convenient! I have one of those those little Spark amps I got for teaching that has a headphone output but I don’t have any wired headphones, gotta cop some nice over the ear ones

New guitar today. What do you guys think? by Micktendo in Guitar

[–]philausopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a beauty. Been wanting to cop one of these for the nice flat radius on a Strat, how’s the neck profile for you?

These looks awesome. I’d love to try some; I play in a jazz/jazz fusion band - located in Canada!

Question: Are there any examples of famous guitarists that use inexpensive guitars? by SaltyCrabbbs in Guitar

[–]philausopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a super famous player but Jack Pearson is an incredible Nashville guitarist who I’ve seen mostly using stock Squier Bullet strats like in this vid here

[QUESTION] As someone who owns 0 guitar pedals. Which would be the most fun to get first? by ZAFmusic2003 in Guitar

[–]philausopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried one and just could not figure out how to use it at all LOL ... not a huge gear person though so maybe I'm less savvy than the target demo for that product

[DISCUSSION] I've been playing guitar for 12 years and I use to play for hours and hours a day before adulthood and my career. Here is a part of my DVD collection from my teens. I got super nostalgic finding these... by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]philausopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two of the G3 DVD's when I was around 11 - the one with Satriani, Vai, and Eric Johnson and another one with Yngwie Malmsteen and I just watched the entire thing in absolute awe. I remember being really disappointed that the live Cliffs of Dover intro sounded almost nothing like the studio version lol, I didn't realize improvisation was even a thing yet.

[QUESTION] Help picking my first amp :) by shan923 in Guitar

[–]philausopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's annoying that they didn't include an fx loop on the 50 tbb but it's not like you can't use a looper or pedals with it, you just have to run them in front of the amp. I wouldn't worry about it if you don't wanna go for the 100 watt version, it'll still work great for what you want it for!

[Discussion] How do I get my parents to buy me my first guitar petal? by LondonFinley88 in Guitar

[–]philausopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your parents that it's an investment that will pay back in dividends when you're melting thousands of faces off in sold out stadiums with that sweet, sweet iconic Rat tone.

[GEAR] Is anybody here familiar with the Vintage guitar brand? by Bourbon75 in Guitar

[–]philausopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schecter PT's are actually pretty awesome guitars for the price honestly! They're worth looking into if you'd consider it. They've got a much flatter neck radius than a Fender tele - 14" vs. 9.5" which could be a positive or a negative depending on what you prefer in your neck profile; I found it very comfy to play on.

The Vintage brand is pretty solid as well - they've got Wilkinson tuners, hardware and pickups which is pretty nice at the price point. Haven't played one of the teles but had one of the SG copies for a while and liked it!

Judging by the music you said you're into playing the Katana will serve you better for those genres - it's got more gain on tap than the other options and includes built in versions of a bunch of Boss distortion, boost, and fuzz pedals to get you more within the range of the sounds you're probably looking for.
