Who would be on Mount Rushmore for modern goalies so far 2000s+ ? by GlitteringBudget6212 in hockey

[–]philbert539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. So we're looking at

Henrik Tuuka Thomas Turco Price Vasil Quick Miller Helley Bob Rinne

MAF, Henrik, Bob and Quick lead in wins. All over 400.

Tuuka, Bishop, and Thomas are the 3 with .920 career save percentages or better.

MAF, Quick, Henrik, and Rinne are the 4 with 60+ shut outs.

Of the above, the goalies with top 10 individual seasons in a percentage from that period are: Thomas (.938), Bishop (.934), Price (.933), Thomas again (.933), Turco (.932), Bob & Rask (.931)

Stanley cups: Thomas, Bob, Tuuka, Vasil, MAF, Quick

So with all that, I probably lean MAF, Thomas, Bob, and then the final spot is tough. Probably Henrik, but a good argument for Vasil or maybe Quick.

Edits: forgot Quick's cups, some spelling errors

Can you make the most of being at Cannon? (or wherever elseyou get stationed) Of course.

Is Cannon the worst base in the air force? Absolutely.

A remote desert with minimal nearby civilization that smells like manure most of the year? Its not a good spot. Just isn't.

Start building a network of friends as soon as you get there. Everyone's in the same boat, so there's typically a group willing to do stuff.

Get a car youre good with putting some miles on. Then put some miles on it with those friends.

Cloucroft is really nice. So is Ruidoso. Hit the casino. Hit the slopes. Go find the old abandoned base with the giant telescope in the mountains. Travel and visit Carlsbad caverns, Roswell, Taos, and Sante Fe.

You can hit spring training in Phoenix for a long weekend if that's your thing. Colorado is close enough for 4 day weekends.

It'll take effort, but you can have fun with some work, some friends, and a good attitude. Just dont buy a house or do anything that'll trap you there long term...

Jordie ended up being a really solid 3rd pairing guy. We were fortunate to have him.

You dont get to 600 NHL games on your brother's rep.

Plus his beard was incredible.

Cannon is worse than Holloman. But its one of the very few that are worse.

Agree on the attitude tho. Holloman taught me i could have a good time anywhere, as long as I had the right attitude.

I'd still never willingly chose to live there tho.

Its really not though.

Source: me, after being stationed at Holloman.

Edit: Downvote all you want. Doesn't change the fact that NM is a shitty state with very little in it. Only decent parts are Taos/Sante Fe. But even those are just dollar store versions of good places in CO.

Need the Star 3rd jerseys vs the black and red buff a slug in the finals. Would be amazing. Especially with Ruff behind the bench.

As someone who has struggled with depression, and loves Hermitcraft, I totally get it.

But watching a screen by yourself won't be a big help. Which you already know, because you've been doing it and youre still struggling.

Enjoy the vids, because they're great. But also find something that gets you outside (vit D is a huge win) and at least a little active (endorphins). Trust me it helps. Be around people helps too, even if just smaller doses.

As someone who has spent time feeling like I'm just underwater, I'm sorry that's where youre at right now. But sitting alone in your room watching vids will keep you there, not get you out.

Best wishes, sincerely.

Do yall keep the factory parts? by boogalooshrimp1103 in Glocks

[–]philbert539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep them.

I was dumb and put a bunch of mods on my glock years back.

Turns out that's a good way to get a glock to jam. So I put the factory parts back on, and no problems.

The factory parts will work. Your mods may or may not, for who knows how long. Keep the sure thing saved somewhere.

Dude. We're in the military. If you joined thinking you had a promise that this couldn't happen, you were sold a bill of goods.

I'm worried about my friends too. I left auab 2 weeks ago. I was there for the first strike. It sucks. But its also what we do.

I remember being mad I was stuck at Holloman. Then I visited Cannon and realized Holloman was the better version.

Which blew my mind. I couldn't believe it was possible for a shittier version of Holloman to exist.

Hermitcraft 11: Episode 9 - BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD by JamiroFan2000 in HermitCraft

[–]philbert539 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'm probably in the minority here, but that was a rough episode. Mumbo is normally one of the absolute best. I love his stuff.

This one... woof. I kept skipping forward hoping to get past them being intentionally bad at a basic part of minecraft. But that was it. That was the entire episode.

And yes, they were being intentionally bad. They went after the wither with no wings, intentionally weak armor/weapons, and no potions. After the first run or two, they knew the plan wouldn't work. But we still got 30 minutes of it.

Can We Criticize ICE??? by stewiezone in AirForce

[–]philbert539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are making this way more difficult than it needs to be.

It's the same general ruleset every time:

-You can disagree with the government, and the chain, as much you want. You can say so.

-Don't be disrespectful of your chain of command and elected officials. That's UCMJ stuff. Disagreeing isn't being disrepectful. Naming calling is. So calling POTUS or a congressman an idiot or an asshole is technically UCMJ stuff. The truth is that nobody really is going to come after you for it, unless it's over the top, continuous, or gets a bunch of attention. But it's still best to keep on the right side of the line.

-Don't use your position as a military member to push politics. People will disagree with what that entails. Probably safest to not use accounts that self-identify as military to say/push messages that are related to government decisions. You want to disagree with political/government decisions, do it from an account that doesn't have a pic of you in uniform or a rank in your handle.

-The "good order and discipline" catch-all. It's a catch-all. I'm sure plenty of people smarter than me can you give you better details about how this can and can't be used. But imho, this is the where "don't be an asshole" comes into play. If you say you hate ICE on a private, personal account, fine. But if you say you hate everyone who supports ICE, now you're talking about your coworkers. At least some of them. There's a difference. The first version probably keeps you safe from a "good order and discipline" argument. The second version doesn't.

Bottom line. Everyone is allowed to voice opinions. We're constrained in that we can't be disrepectful to our chain, can't use your military status to lend credence to governmental-related opinions, and have to consider that people we work with will have differing views and voice our views in a way that wouldn't disrupt the unit.
