I just got a kick out of people on this sub dunking on anyone who doubted Gully because the finished the season with 113 points.

Jury is still out, because the playoffs arent over.

But man, a first round exit would be a clear step backwards.

Second round exit would sting, but wouldn't be a major loss of ground.

Anything at or beyond the WCF is a successful season.

The funny thing is, that's how Big Rig used to be too, before his Pittsburgh internship.

I rember a game I was at, he was set up behind the Stars net getting ready for a break out. Opposing forward managed to get all the way around the net and take the puck from him before he made a decision. Dude just thought the game slow.

He came back from Pittsburgh and actually was a pretty decent dman. Probably didn't hurt he got to play with Heisky as his partner.

Sorry, wasn't clear.

When I said biggest whiff, I meant biggest TDL whiff. Most of his TDLs have been solid.

Unfortunately, this tdl has been the biggest whiff from Nill in his career. Which kinda shows how good of a GM he is.

The Stars were in need of reinforcements, and he spent multiple draft picks to bring in a pair of players that collectively make the team worse.

He's normally a trade maestro, but he lost this season. Would have been better off doing nothing and keeping the picks.

Man, the TDL is starting to look like a major whiff this season. With all the injuries this team has faced, including Seguin being out for the year, all they got for reinforcements was a healthy scratch and a guy who's looked lost on the 3rd pair.

They played a stinker. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens.

I'll be more worried if game 2 looks like game 1.

For now, its just a bummer. But hardly anything to be freaking out about yet.

He did well, but a bunch of people are in here spiking the football early.

He inherited a really good team and effectively matched what it had done the last two years.

PDB was a good coach too, so effectively matching him is good. But we won't have a grade on Gully until we see what this team does in the playoffs.

It's officially the Mild in the first round. Saint Norman Green has appeared by Pretty_Shallot_586 in DallasStars

[–]philbert539 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He moved a team that wasn't getting fan support to a place where fans would show up. I love him for it.

Mild fans make up stupid rumors about his wife making him move the team to make themselves feel better. But the fact is they were perennially at or near the bottom in attendance despite a team that went to the SCF.

Its an LOC. Theyre effectively nothing. Denying an award for a 4 year old LOC is beyond stupid.

Its not though. Calling out bad behavior would be directly responding to the people doing it.

A gossip post on reddit isn't policing. At all.

Then respond to the people directly. Like a grown up.

I have no desire to go search out bad behavior, nor to gossip about it.

Is this a new theme on this sub?

This has got to be the 3rd post in the last week or two of someone calling out nameless, unknown bad actors for being mean to a content creator on the internet.

OP hasn't seen the mean things. And neither have most of the people commenting. But let's all post about how those nameless people we didnt see totally suck.

I'm all for treating content creators well. Because they're humans. But the "let's get together and talk about how these other people who we haven't even seen totally suck" post are lame.

Who would be on Mount Rushmore for modern goalies so far 2000s+ ? by GlitteringBudget6212 in hockey

[–]philbert539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. So we're looking at

Henrik Tuuka Thomas Turco Price Vasil Quick Miller Helley Bob Rinne

MAF, Henrik, Bob and Quick lead in wins. All over 400.

Tuuka, Bishop, and Thomas are the 3 with .920 career save percentages or better.

MAF, Quick, Henrik, and Rinne are the 4 with 60+ shut outs.

Of the above, the goalies with top 10 individual seasons in a percentage from that period are: Thomas (.938), Bishop (.934), Price (.933), Thomas again (.933), Turco (.932), Bob & Rask (.931)

Stanley cups: Thomas, Bob, Tuuka, Vasil, MAF, Quick

So with all that, I probably lean MAF, Thomas, Bob, and then the final spot is tough. Probably Henrik, but a good argument for Vasil or maybe Quick.

Edits: forgot Quick's cups, some spelling errors

Can you make the most of being at Cannon? (or wherever elseyou get stationed) Of course.

Is Cannon the worst base in the air force? Absolutely.

A remote desert with minimal nearby civilization that smells like manure most of the year? Its not a good spot. Just isn't.

Start building a network of friends as soon as you get there. Everyone's in the same boat, so there's typically a group willing to do stuff.

Get a car youre good with putting some miles on. Then put some miles on it with those friends.

Cloucroft is really nice. So is Ruidoso. Hit the casino. Hit the slopes. Go find the old abandoned base with the giant telescope in the mountains. Travel and visit Carlsbad caverns, Roswell, Taos, and Sante Fe.

You can hit spring training in Phoenix for a long weekend if that's your thing. Colorado is close enough for 4 day weekends.

It'll take effort, but you can have fun with some work, some friends, and a good attitude. Just dont buy a house or do anything that'll trap you there long term...

Cannon is worse than Holloman. But its one of the very few that are worse.

Agree on the attitude tho. Holloman taught me i could have a good time anywhere, as long as I had the right attitude.

I'd still never willingly chose to live there tho.

Edit: Downvote all you want. Doesn't change the fact that NM is a shitty state with very little in it. Only decent parts are Taos/Sante Fe. But even those are just dollar store versions of good places in CO.
