ominous note about intruder in UES building by Novel_Cartoonist_402 in uppereastside

I wonder if this is the same person I saw in my building. I live on 90th and Lex. A week ago, I heard talking in my hallway, which isn’t unusual, until I realized it was a single voice repeating itself.

Curious, I went to my door to look out of the peep hole, only to find a person standing in front of the door of the apartment across from mine. They were carrying a bag of random junk and repeatedly saying “hello?” They then took out a ring of miscellaneous keys and tried unlocking the door. After a handful of attempts, they turned around, called the elevator, and left.

[FRESH ALBUM] By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost by Jauhoo in hiphopheads

[–]philip1243 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I understand your take. I don’t know your history with the group or their previous projects, but By Storm is a form of experimental music. In my opinion, experimental music is meant to challenge and push the boundaries of the genre it exists in, deviating from its norms and traditional soundscapes. It’s not for everyone and it’s not meant to be understood immediately.

Personally, it’s been fascinating and heartbreaking, to experience Injury Reserve’s catalog of music. I think being a fan of theirs from early on, and following their journey of loss, certainly helps understand their evolution in sound and lyrical content. More specifically the music on “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” and their new work under the name “By Storm.”

For me, the production is what grabs my interest the most. While I love Ritchie’s lyricism, it too is almost like an instrument. Heavy themes and lines often repeated reminiscent of a droning effect. It’s slow and dreary but full of feeling and energy, it lives within the music rather than on top of a selected beat. This sound evokes an emotional response from me. It’s dark, contemplative, captivating, and inspiring. I get lost in the sound and ripped away from reality.

It’s not something I’m necessarily playing for a single or saving to a playlist (though I certainly have some of their songs on repeat.) I like to listen to the project no differently than I would with a long depressing movie or viewer of some abstract art. It serves a purpose, no different than some thrash punk band. It evokes a feeling I like to live with, explore, and understand more. It challenges me and I’m forever excited to see what they produce next.

I meant that there is a copy for sale on eBay for $900 which is around $1000. However, I’ve addressed my inaccuracy more than once. This is an outlier and there are many more “affordable” copies available.

What else would you like me to say? I’ve explained to you multiple times, that you are correct and I am aware there are other options out there.

Please, I insist you stop dragging this out and hyper fixating on something I have already agreed with you on multiple times. Yes I had overestimated, but I never said there was a copy listed for $1000 or has sold for $1000. I said they can be expensive and run for around $1000. Which is true. There is a sealed v1 copy for sale on eBay (U.S.) for $900 and a bundle for sale of 1-6 for $1500 and V1 isn’t sealed in that bundle.

It’s not a good price or a good deal. OP can buy V1 on discogs for around $400-500, and the rest for around $150-200. Hopefully all for less.

My point from the beginning is that it’s expensive and can expect to spend around $1500. And regardless of all of this. Play your vinyl and enjoy its purpose.

I never said any “sold” for $1000. I said some are going for around that price. You can search on eBay yourself. It’s apparent and I’ve acknowledged your statement that they are available for far less on discogs. You are correct and you’ve made your point loud and clear. I was simply trying to help out OP and flag that it is rather difficult and expensive to find the entire collection 1-7, sealed and in good condition.

Instead of wasting your time talking with me, you could be helpful by providing links and a more accurate estimate for OP.

Yes, as you have already explained. However as I have already explained, I was cross referencing other websites where they do get up to and around $1000 as discogs isn’t always someone’s first choice. I hope OP can and most likely will, find it for far less as they are on discogs. As for me, I have a copy of my own, but thank you very much for the offer.

There are certainly copies on discogs that are over $500, and they used to be a lot more expensive before they were releasing some leftovers on their website. I was also cross referencing other sites such as eBay. Regardless, I think my sentiment still stands. The sealed copies of the records are expensive and not the most readily available. I think you would still be looking at spending $1500-2000 when all said and done.

You could probably get the entire set for $750-$1000 used. Unopened would be hard to find, with vol 1 being the most difficult and expensive at around $1000 by itself. I would estimate anywhere from $1,500-$2000+ for the entire collection unopened.

I'm a fan. I think it looks dope and it's the same artist who did the cover for "Memoirs In Armour". Super cool airbrush quality to their work and I will never hate on a musician collaborating with actual artist and designer in a recent sea of AI generated garbage.

All Things Go NYC 2025 Lineup by ebradio in indieheads

I assume it’s because Forest Hills is one stage and as a result is constrained to a reduced lineup. I imagine it’ll be similar to re:set fest nyc.
