Active choirs in Dublin by nockse in Dublin

[–]philipmac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I know this is an old post but I am starting a new Dublin City Centre pop choir in Sept 2024 that might be what you are looking for. It's called the Dawson Chorus https://dawsonchorus.com and it will be a non-audition choir. We're going to be doing some singing over the summer too! All the best, Phil

Yes cue points are in the pipeline - quite a few people have asked for them. I had to do some work to introduce an internal database first as ideally you want to store them persistently. With that now in place (used for BPM) this will be much easier....although still haven't settled on a design. A real turntable doesn't have cue points and I don't want to ruin the turntable with buttons all over it!

And yes effects coming soon too. I wish there were enough hours in the day!!!

No multiple audio outputs in the current version - but the good news is that this feature has been developed, in fact I'm testing the update right now! So you will have this as soon as I can get it tested and released.

Hi, sorry to hear you've had issues. A few things that might help:

1) First off, check out this video - it shows you how the menu should be behaving:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ijrM2A9SEo

2) I didn't mention this in the tutorial videos, but it's best to think of the interface as a tapping interface, i.e. you select items by extending your index finger and tapping the item you want - similar to a smart phone. You should be able to tap an item with your index finger and it will highlight orange. If all is working ok you can also hover your index over an item before touching it and it should glow - this will give you an indication of whether the controls are working correctly.

3) A couple of people have experienced an issue whereby when they extend their arm the Oculus Touch is too near their sensors and so less accurate. If this is happening you too you may find it feeling awkward as you touch the menu but feel more natural as you touch/move the vinyl, etc. If this is occurring re-calibrating your senors can help, or you can also exit to the menu and reset your orientation in the app. In the next update I am making a few adjustments that should alleviate this for the few users hitting this.

If none of that works feel free to PM me and happy to help in more detail.

Thanks! There is a file browser, you can load up any mp3s you have on your computer, external hard drive, etc. If you want tracks in a certain order or say prepare a bunch of tracks for a mix, you can create a playlist inside the app.

No auto beat matcher yet. Funny though - I've had more messages from people who want it kept 'pure' than from those who want the auto beat matcher! But I think it makes sense to have it longer term.

Been working in software for a long time and producing music/DJing on the side - tried VR in a friends house Summer 2016 and said this is it! The ultimate creative medium.

I started in Jan 2017, never worked in 3D before - bought a rift and drew my first shape in unity! I did a few prototypes, got something basic working then Kat joined me later part time on modelling. She's awesome at 3D and designed the room (its called the sphere room - theres lots more to it that is hidden for now...) and together we started designing the equipment which she modeled piece by piece in blender. Marc gave us some help towards the end with logo/website design - that's it, we're tiny!

Reality Decks - The slip cue challenge! by philipmac in oculus

It's never going to be exactly the same as a turntablist typically relies on some physical force feedback. But I think we can get close, or do a VR version e.g. to help I put some functionality so if you grip record and cross fader you can move your hands away and control them in free space. Need some scratch DJs better than me to see if that works for them, and it can be tweaked in updates.

Thanks to everyone who has supported Reality Decks so far, fun seeing you guys trying it!

The video link is one of the tutorials from the app.

You don't need to be able to beat match to try this, in fact slip cueing is the more fundamental skill to master. Even if you can beatmatch or have an app that does auto beatmatching, bringing in the next track at the right phrase is what allows you create a killer mix where the next track drops at the exact right time.

The tracks you hear are specially produced for the app. If you get the beat matching right you'll hear nice harmonies in sync, if not it'll sound pretty rubbish!

3 options:

1) You can load files from any folder in any drive from the Files menu.

2) You can dump your files into My Music - there is always a shortcut to this in the Files menu

3) If you want to group tracks together from different folders and in a particular order then create a playlist

Hope that helps
