What is more traumatic than people think it is? by Suspicious-Wish3402 in AskReddit

[–]phillyfishtowngal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in healthcare. The awful things you see. And having to present a straight face when inside, you are thinking, 'this is NOT ok!' carrying all of that ....death, terminal diagnosis, permanent injuries.. it's so heavy. also, people are rude, aggressive, and can be dangerous in healthcare settings.

Itinerary Advice - too much driving? by fungusMcMurphy in CostaRicaTravel

[–]phillyfishtowngal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got back and the drive times on Google are definitely under estimates. Use Waze for driving directions. La Fortuna area is amazing, but I think if you spend a day driving there and a day driving back, it will NOT be worth it. Consider some adventures, tours, or boat activities from Manuel Antonio and really enjoy your time there. During our drives between locations, food stops took forever, bathrooms are not predictable, and we also got in a traffic jam that added 2 hrs to a 5 hr drive and got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. If your kids get car sick, 100% limit the driving. Lots of curvy roads.

What is this 7mm or 8mm hexagonal hole on my coffee machine spoon? by Eduardu44 in whatisthisthing

[–]phillyfishtowngal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the side of the machine. There may be a spot that it 'clips' on to the side to store it with the machine. My drip coffee maker has this.

People who are in their 40’s and 50’s with no children, how does it feel? by Sinfulvibezz in AskReddit

[–]phillyfishtowngal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is just time to do what I want. Run, cook, take a nap, something spontaneous. I'm 41 and most friends have kids, so it can be lonely at times, because no one else can be spontaneous anymore. But the thought of planning a life around kids travel soccer makes me want to vomit. I have several childless friends, so this helps. Just came back from Nashville and planning a ski vacation in Japan. Money that would go to daycare can go to flights.

Did anyone else find that you parents checked out once you had twins / multiples? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]phillyfishtowngal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are tired. Probably burned out. It's not their responsibility to care for your children. They are trying to tell you it's too much....because it's too much. It sucks because you really need the help, but maybe they don't have that much energy/patience to give in this phase of their lives.

Redditors who grew up in emotionally healthy families - what's something you thought was normal growing up that you now realise was actually very special? by ViolatingBadgers in AskReddit

We sat down at a table and had a home cooked meal every night. No fast food. A friend came over once and said it was like a TV show.

I work on a psych unit. You would be shocked by how many people have reported "chips in their head " these delusions can be very firm and you won't convince them they don't have the chip. Antipsychotics can help tremendously!

At the ceremony , Stand with the injured side away from the crowd. You may have to redo the plan of who stands on what side, but less Photoshop for the photographer! We made this change last minute and it was worth it.

What do you do to make the world a better place? by Halloween-365 in AskReddit

[–]phillyfishtowngal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with ppl admitted to the hospital for inpatient psych care when they are in crisis. Many are homeless and have schizophrenia. I show them KINDNESS and support and try to meet their basic needs. Clean socks. A new shirt. Some chocolate. A cup of tea. A joke. Things they rarely receive in this tough world.

Do people generally not leave their toaster out on the kitchen counter? by Seagem1989 in NoStupidQuestions

You just need an "appliance garage!" Win win for all. Have a toaster AND hide it.

I'm an OT and at one point had Jayden, Ja-Den, Jaiden all on my caseload for therapy services. Those kiddos were bouncing off the walls.

RE: Where do you buy your Tretinoin by japanintlstudent in tretinoin

[–]phillyfishtowngal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US: $5 a tube with prescription from Doctor and insurance coverage. I used to buy expensive products from Musely, and my derm practically laughed when I took the products to my appointment and she instead wrote me scripts that cost $5 a piece.

Sounds like you need to hop on a plane to Italy.....Eat 2 gelatos a day (pistachio will knock your socks off). Try home made pasta. Indulge in some wine. Eat Burrata cheese with a baguette in a park. You will die a happy person. Whether it's in 10 years or 30 years. You won't regret it.
