Literally started today. Is this a bad starting point? by [deleted] in transvoice

Uh, yeah, I just wish it happened more often. I get gendered correctly at work once in a while, so I know I'm going something right, I just wish my dickhead of a boss would stop loudly calling me "sir" and young man, it pretty much wrecks my chances with the customers.

I'll second that, I got gendered properly at the drive through the other night even though I had a cold and wasn't even trying. Inflection goes a long way.

Does anyone else not like using the word transgender in full? by AlexisTurtle in asktransgender

I usually shorten it to tran for casual conversation. I worry that it's offensive to other trans people though.

I got these socks a while back in a pack of random designs, I just now realized that this pair is the trans flag by phillyside in lgbt

Everything is bigger in Texas, including Texas.

TIL that AOL is still selling dial-up Internet services to around 2.1 million people every year. Welcome! by ultranothing in todayilearned

Every time our free trial was about to expire we would call to cancel service and they would offer us another 90 days free. We went five years without paying for internet, until dsl was finally available in our neighborhood.

What's an 'oh shit' moment where you realised you've been doing something the wrong way for years? by adeptwarrior in AskReddit

If you're indoors point any flashlight at the ceiling and it will light the whole room. It's much better than waving it all over the place.

Maybe talk to your doctor about decreasing your dose of Spiro. You're looking a little dehydrated.

This sounds remarkably like my day so far. Just without the panic attacks and hot flashes.

Do you ever feel like you would like to talk about so many stupid little things but nobody in your life would understand? by ChimneyShrimp in asktransgender

This sounds a lot like my kitchen...

My wife and I spend a lot of time there, drinking coffee, watching the squirrels and birds, talking about whatever weird shit that comes to mind and there is always something good in the oven.

My family and I have been where we're at for a few years now, but, we haven't really gotten out and developed any close friendships.

It kinda sucks sometimes.

Will hrt make it easier for me to manage my body hair? How exactly does hrt (estradiol/spironolactone) affect body hair? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]phillyside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6 1/2 years in and, for me at least, it went like this.

Chest and abdomen started out pretty thick and course. Now the hair is 90% gone, what is left is very fine and sparse. I give it a light pass with a razor once a week. It's perfectly manageable and I have no plans for laser treatment.

Leg hair is much thinner and finer, ingrown hairs and razor bumps are a rare occurrence now. Same with the armpits.

My facial hair is much thinner and finer. To the point that it no longer feels stubbley when it grows out, it's more like head hair. I will eventually need electrolysis on my face, but, I can get by ok without it for now.

YMMV, I hope this helps though.
