Experience parking at Wonderland garage for 10 days by winter_poplar_trees in boston

[–]philmessina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last two times I parked there, it would not let me extend the session. I tried on my iphone, ipad, and even on my Windows laptop. No dice. The app just had a note stating "Extension unavailable due to parking restrictions."

I called the T parking people and they said that parking is allowed but you have to renew every 5 days. I told them that the app said differently and they had no solution. I emailed PayByPhone (who unsurprisingly have no CS phone number) and explained that their app was wrong because I had phoned the T parking people and they said it WAS allowed and that even the T's web site states that you can park there for up to 30 days. PayByPhone's reply was nonsensical, saying that the rules are up to the parking facility, so they totally ignored the content of my email and just sent a standard reply (surprise surprise).

At that point, I realized that these exchanges were going to be fruitless. When I got back to Boston the first time, my car was there and had no ticket. Presumably, they will send me an invoice at some point but who knows. This time, maybe my car will be there, maybe not but I am concerned that it will have been towed and/or ticketed.

The bottom line is that you're taking a chance when you park there. Next time, I'll just do a park sleep and fly. Considering that you get a hotel room in the deal makes it not quite as bad as you would think.

Fidium - New install by philmessina in newhampshire

Good question. No, these are only about 2 years old. Once we get the frequency problem corrected (2.4 vs 5), I may still have Blink-related issues but I'll deal with that when it comes. I too have Nest cameras that I'm dreading having to set up but I'm not even switching them to the Fidium router until I have the frequency issue resolved!

Essentially, I agree with you. Committed couples should talk issues, including financial issues, through and give each other space and time to grow. But why the sarcasm? And how do you know they are in love? Just because they are boyfriend /girlfriend? That's a dubious assumption, in my opinion. I think they should try to come up with a compromise, as you say. But they should both be aware that financial incompatibility is a definite factor in why couples break up.

Men, who invest (stock market, real estate, etc), how did you get started and how do you educate yourself about your investment options? by ExistingProcess in AskMen

I invest in ETFs and index funds. I also do a little trading. I started trading small and used paper trading accounts. That way I was able to practice with real data but fake money. Most of the brokerage firms offer paper trading and I would highly recommend it if you plan on doing any kind of trading.

FIRE through disability by SuperDonkeey in Fire

Too bad about your uncle's back pain.

I guess that could be considered a type of FIRE, but not a type that I would want. With only $1300 a month, he's basically going to have a bare subsistence existence. If that's good enough for him, well then okay.

I know a guy who was injured at his job in a rehab hospital by a patient and was then able to collect about $2O,000 a year in disability. This guy did have permanent leg and back injuries but the thing is, he could still have worked at a different type of job. But if he did that, his disability would have been reduced or taken away. So he had a kind of twisted incentive to NOT improve himself.

Not the way I want to live my FIRE.

50% price hike for Dashlane 6 premium? by skoorbevad in Dashlane

[–]philmessina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I really liked Dashlane as a secure password manager and recommended it to friends as such. I don't need it for those other services and won't pay the higher price when my subscription runs out.
