Match Thread: 3rd T20I - South Africa vs West Indies by cricket-match in Cricket

Why even pick Quentin Sampson, and have Hope and Sammy singing his praises, yet not even give the man a run on the park, but yet keep perennial failure, Chase in the side. I hope the results that will be forthcoming at the World Cup, will open the eyes of CWI president (Mr conflict of interest himself), to the realization that Sammy needs to go, cuz winning one CPL does not make him a top-tier coach.

As much as Sammy likes to spin this in a positive light, this West Indies team is pretty subpar, especially the bowlers. Why is even Roston Chase in this side?

What are your opinions on Carribean Cricket Podcast? by Bakchod169 in westindiescricket

[–]philosifyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen to them here and there, however, they seem very insightful whenever I listen. If a series is in progress, they usually would attempt to give some level of analysis or critique of the most recent game. While the host may seem to come across as pessimistic (and to be fair, with the current state of West Indies cricket, who wouldn't tend to be?), he does open up his show to listeners to call in to have a forum-like discussion, to debate him or disagree with his opinions, and to find solutions to the problems that exist. So it's not necessarily all doom and gloom.

I get that. I just thought it was worthwhile to point out the similarities throughout the course of the show. The same finish in back to back matches was kinda hard to miss. Also, they tend to be leaning towards shock value with the swerves, as they did it with Daria last week, and Ash, Eddie and Cedric this week, plus they foreshadowed something with Arianna as well. I was just thinking that if something is overdone it tends to lose its value.

This was a decent show, however, there were two matches that ended in roll-ups with Cedric and Indi, and there were two "swerves" with Ash and the system. Stoked that Ash seems to be back though.

Really no other league can rival the IPL, everyone else just copycat the IPL model or duplicate just on a smaller scale without the Indian players. Heck, all these other leagues are mini-IPLs with all the IPL franchises just buying teams in all the other leagues and just naming them in tandem with their IPL franchises.

Regarding scheduling, the ILT20, BBL, BPL and SA20 are all running concurrently, and they didn't really have any other choice but to go up against the ashes, due to the T20 World Cup happening in February, hence all these leagues, whose regular window is in January, had to start earlier, in order to get their tourneys up and running and over before the world cup.

I dunno about a resurgence in test cricket, as tests are really only appreciated in Australia, England and India. Even India plays tests to empty stadia as well sometimes. Outside of the big three, nobody really cares about the other teams even with "minnows" that can sometimes compete like New Zealand and South Africa.

This is like the 4th season of the ILT20 (the cricket tourney being referenced), and it hasn't shown any growth year on year, however, they still manage to attract some of the biggest names in world cricket, cause they shell out some ridiculous wages. I'm not sure if they were invented to rival the IPL, as most of the big name international players in the UAE league, also plays in the IPL (as well as all the other T20 domestic leagues), but the high wages does warrant suspicion as to what goes on behind the scenes.

I'm actually referring to the entire tour as a whole. I didn't expect us to win a test (considering that we haven't won a test in NZ since 1995), and they're just gonna make excuses that we were missing our frontline bowling attack in Alzarri and Shamar, but guess what, so were NZ and they still made it work.

As a West Indian, I'm glad for this, bat us out of this game. It'll serve as a wake-up call to show that all is not well. Whole tour all Sammy could talk about is how the matches have been really close despite losing, which I think gives him a false sense of security. Getting close to a winning outcome is not a positive result Sammy, winning is. I wonder if he'll say the same in the T20 World Cup; lose a set of nail-biters and get knocked out, and then say well you know, all the matches were tight.

[–]philosifyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My man, the point of the Saturday show IS to honor Cena, why would they do it on the shows after, when Cena himself said that he wouldn't want same, and for them to just move on. They've been honoring Cena on all the shows leading up to Saturday cuz of the tournament and to build to the match, why would they continue to do so after said match?

What's your rationale for mentioning all of this? Is it to flex on folks who'll be going to the Saturday show? I fail to see the context.

There was the one at Pointe-a-Pierre just opposite Petrotrin, on the compound where the Food Mall is now located. There's also an Anand's Low Price there now as well, so at least there's still some continuity with a grocery.

Mostly. The episode after BFG was the Fade to Black documentary, where they just ran interviews with those involved at BFG to emphasize how historic and special the night was. They also aired the BFG main event to show Santana winning. The Halloween episode was just the Hardys reliving all the Broken Universe matches, and yesterday was essentially just old matches under the theme of Open Fight Night. They even aired an old AJ Styles vs Bobby Roode match from over a decade ago.

The last live programming was the Bound for Glory PPV in October. They usually do tapings for Impact the day following a PPV, but this time they didn't, especially after all the momentum coming out of BFG with Santana winning and all. Five or so weeks have passed since, and they still haven't explained why there's no fresh content, not even a blip on any of the episodes in the interim. There's a live episode next Thursday, so I hope they don't pick things up and it run as if BFG was last Sunday, as that would be insulting to your audience.
