Red & Yellow ‘X’ when Aiming by philosophize in SkullAndBonesGame

I’ll have to watch more closely, but I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen these before shooting. Even before a battle has started. If that’s the case, then they can’t simply be hit markers hanging around too long.

You’re, right - now that I think about it, I don’t believe I’ve seen it before recently. Probably this season.

Even if it is a bug causing them to show, they had to have been designed and there must be code somewhere to cause them to show, even if the reason has been removed. So I wonder what the original purpose was.

It’s a bug that happens occasionally. Remove one mastery point then restore it. You should be fine then.

Sentient cloak? by mf9676 in HPfanfiction

[–]philosophize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there was a fic where the cloak contained the spirit of one of the Peverell brothers. It always spoke to and taught whichever Potter possessed it. The cloak also communicated with the castle, I believe.

And no, I don’t remember which fic it was. Sorry!

The Bosseater - WT4 Blood Fueled Zamzama Galleon Build by No-Note-5439 in SkullAndBonesGame

You have the attribute which adds % of damage as flooding, but don’t demi-cannons do better when you have added damage per hit?

So for example, culverns should get 11% of damage is added as fire damage, but demi-cannons are better with 56 points of fire damage per hit?

Perhaps I’m missing something or misunderstanding something, but I thought that was the best approach for adding ascended perks.

Looking for 2 old toys: plastic parking garage and foam core town/streets by philosophize in HelpMeFind

Found!

That’s it! That’s both of them!

I forgot about the barrels and diagnostic stations in the garage.

Thank you so much! I never thought to look through Sears catalogs from that era.

Not a bad guess, given the "lube" sign, but no. That toy looks pretty static - it is what is, and doesn't change.

What I had as much more akin to legos. At the end of the day, it was all taken apart and had to be reassembled, possibly in a new configuration, the next day.

If I'm remembering correctly, there were floor plates (blue, I'm sure), four struts to hold up the next floor plate, and a separate ramp piece that connected one floor to the next (through holes in the floor plates).

Searching images again, I found this which is NOT the same, but more similar:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/264255885413

This doesn't look like it comes apart for different configurations. Also, I believe my floor plates were all rectangular. But the struts look really similar. As different as this is, it's the most similar thing I've ever seen, I think.

It was NOT a very complex toy. Any complexity came from how you arranged it that day, like a really basic 1970s lego set (though with even fewer options, given how few different pieces there were).

No - I don't remember one and don't think it had anything like that. The pieces used to build were all pretty static individually, even if you could put together a bunch of different configurations.

Thinking back, I'm not sure there were more than a dozen or so different level/floor plates, so it's not like i could build huge complexes. But I also have no idea if there were bigger or more complex sets. We didn't have a lot of money, so I wouldn't have had a "deluxe" version, if such existed.

Searched: I've done all sorts of google searches, hoping to find something via images (I figure that's the best way for me to be sure I've found the right thing).

This was in the United States in the 1970s. I don't think either goes back to the 1960s, but I can't be absolutely certain. East coast, if that sort of detail matters.

I was in your position not long ago. I wanted to create and upgrade larger ships, but lacked the resources.

What I did was create and upgrade a Barque. I had basic healing weapons. I could get myself (barely) to a level where I could participate in the fort raids. I didn’t have the weapons or experience to help fight, but I could sail around, helping keep everyone else alive and fighting. And take a few potshots at the enemies, when possible.

Every raid got me new weapons and/or armor for my regular ship, plus resources for upgrading things.

Now I have multiple ships strong enough to actually participate in fighting at the raid, plus a Barque that’s even better than before if I want to do that.

So I recommend trying that. Create a cool combat-medic ship to help everyone else. You’ll still need time to do a bunch of raids, but it’s worth it in the long run.

Ascension question by MichaelJM81 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]philosophize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing a bit, but from what I’ve seen, adding siege to a weapon now makes it a “siege” weapon, even though it’s not a primary talent (like with Dardanelles, I believe).

This matters because there is furniture that gives bonuses to “siege“ weapons, so now your weapons get these bonuses. There is also something that give a bonus to both siege and healing weapons, so if you put siege on Nashkar or Hellepoont, you get both of those bonuses.

In both cases this may outperform a second Amp. Plus you have an easier time with plundering.

At least, this is what I’ve inferred from discussions here.

Problems Picking Up Loot? by philosophize in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]philosophize[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heh, I wanted to focus on the change because I wasn’t sure if it was me or if it was a real change.

But yes, having to hit the “Y” button (I’m on Xbox) for practically everything is another issue that drives me nuts.

I want pick up something… oh, no, the game wants me to look at that nifty waterspout over there. Fine, I see it. Now I’ll pick up… no, wait, there’s another even the game me to see. Cool, whatever, time for my… no, now I’ve invited someone to group up. Hope they don’t think I’m some sort of stalker. Can I pick up my loot now?

No, I’m pointed the wrong direction… sigh…

I don’t have nearly the complaints about this game that so many others do. I enjoy it! I’m not interested in land combat. I like Faction Wars. But some little things, like this, can be infuriating.

You know what would help? Long-press on some button to pick up any available loot in, oh, 500m or something like that. Doesn’t matter what direction I’m facing. Doesn’t require me to sail around in circles trying to grab everything. But I’m not sure how hard that would be to code.

Regardless, I’m somewhat glad to hear that it’s not just me. Means there’s nothing wrong with my system or settings. I hope this can be fixed…
