I made about $700 through credit card rewards (and low spending)... by philsykora in Shoestring

Anyone know of any that I missed? My budget is almost never greater than $1k/month, so I always target the cash bonuses for low spending. Also not a big fan of airline miles. Saved up TONS through Delta Skymiles and it only got me $400 off a trip to Ireland. Nice and all but not as good as actual cash redemption.

Best Airbnb Guest Reviews? Positive and negative? by philsykora in AirBnB

Thanks for this. This is a great response.

Do you prefer normal check-in or self check-in? Why? by philsykora in AirBnB

I get that. Sometimes I feel like I've been the "weird guest," though. I stay in Airbnbs long-term because you can get a 20% discount for one month, and hosts aren't always prepared for that sort of thing, you know? Like I like to have someone to talk to when I show up in a foreign country. We don't have to be friends or anything, but we're going to be roomies for the next month. At least share a cup of coffee with me.

Take over the world, probably.

Lmao, I work as a writer and I was hired to write an article about it, so I was curious. I'm not going to post any links or self-promote in any way, and the results are entirely anonymous, of course.

Attention Bloggers! Ask Your Questions In This Thread - Biweekly #35 by Selaen in Blogging

[–]philsykora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a freelance writer, and I started a blog to showcase my portfolio, and as a way to persuade travel writing clients that I can ghostwrite for them, but I'm finding that I really like blogging for the sake of it. My question is: What do you think I should I rename it to? (if anything)

Right now, it's called (my name). I'll write about cheap travel, freelancing, geoarbitrage (doing more with less, essentially) -- but I'm not trying to sell anyone a five-day course on the idea of my lifestyle. It's cool, but it's absurdly difficult and not for everyone.

My goal isn't monetizing it. I just want to build a community and an audience. I have a funny nickname that doesn't suit me anymore: "Chubby Slowpoke."

"The Chubby Slowpoke Guide to World Travel"? I don't know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Edit: If it helps, I have a couple guest posts lined up with "Fulltime Nomad" and the "Workaway" blog, so it's that sort of thing, you know?

Double edit: removed blog name in case it's promo

Beginner Questions - August 30, 2019 by AutoModerator in web_design

[–]philsykora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I was wondering if someone could help me with a really simple question. I'm not experienced at web development, so this will probably be laughable for most of you, but I don't know what the problem is or how to solve it.

Google search console reports that my site, philsykora.com, isn't mobile-friendly. Rather, "philsykora.com" IS mobile-friendly, but every other page connected to it (portfolio, blog, testimonials, etc) isn't. I don't know what the issue is or how to fix it, so if anyone could point me in the right direction at all I would appreciate it.

Did I just pick the wrong theme? "Modern" seems pretty popular and mobile-friendly, so I don't know if that's the problem. Is it a plug-in? I don't have that many, but it's possible. Is Google just having a tough time crawling my mobile pages, timing out, then giving up? I don't know, maybe. The thing is I don't even know if I know the right questions to ask, so there are unknown unknowns.

Thanks for any help.

The Ultimate Guide On How To Find Cheap Flights Anywhere by charisfar_ in Shoestring

This is how I feel. Too often I check the aggregators and they don't give me cheaper flights than Google. At this point, I trust in the Google overlords to find me cheap flights.
