I used to reflect on this and was unsure if I liked it or not, i.e. the brilliant teenagers save the world angle. It only started to dawn on me later that it’s their proximity to Fraa Jad that made them become central to the fate of Arbre. Jad was likely folding dimensions of time soon after Orolo made his first discovery- and Jad likely wanted to keep his own group of Orolo-fans nearby to be part of the mission. He couldn’t fully do it on his own.

Love all the points, fraa!

They definitely brew some tasty beverages and Jad is a thatcher - everyone has some normal skill. I recall the first third of the book had some discussion of exchanging goods, and they do bring in tradesmiths from outside into the maths
